PURCHASE MANAGER – JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Summary
The Purchase Manager is responsible for planning, sourcing, procurement, vendor management, inventory coordination, cost control, and ensuring uninterrupted availability of raw materials, consumables, machinery spares, and services required for smooth production operations in the printing and packaging industry.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and supervise all purchasing activities of the company.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable local and international suppliers.
- Obtain quotations, negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and contracts with suppliers.
- Prepare and process purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and procurement documentation.
- Resolve supplier disputes, shortages, rejection issues, and claim settlements.
- Monitor stock levels of paper, ink, chemicals, plates, consumables, spare parts, and packaging materials. Ensure optimum inventory levels by maintaining minimum and maximum stock limits.
- Coordinate with Stores, Production, and Planning departments for material requirements.
- Ensure purchased materials meet required quality standards and specifications.
- Coordinate with Quality Control department for inspection and approval of incoming materials.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and statutory requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation for audits and ISO compliance.
- Control purchasing costs and departmental budgets effectively.
- Analyze market trends, pricing, and supply conditions to achieve cost savings.
- Prepare comparative statements and cost analysis reports.
- Develop negotiation strategies for obtaining the best commercial terms.
- Review purchase contracts, agreements, and supplier terms for compliance with company policies.
- Process supplier payments and invoice verification in coordination with Accounts department.
- Prepare procurement reports and management MIS reports.
- Communicate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Participate in strategic planning discussions with senior management.
- Source new materials, vendors, and alternative products for cost reduction and quality improvement.
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Supply Chain, Procurement, Commerce, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Purchase/Procurement, preferably in Offset Printing & Packaging Industry.
- Strong knowledge of paper, ink, printing consumables, and packaging materials.
- Good negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, MS Excel, and procurement software.
- Good communication and analytical skills.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
