Position Title
CNC Operator cum Programmer
.Key Responsibilities CNC Programming
- Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for milling, turning, drilling, boring, and other machining operations.
- Create programs using G-code, M-code, conversational programming, and CAM software.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD models, and technical specifications.
- Determine machining sequences, cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and machine parameters.
- Perform program simulations and trial runs to verify accuracy.
- Optimize cycle times and machining processes to improve productivity and reduce costs.
- Maintain and update program databases and revision records.
Machine Setup
- Set up CNC machines for production according to job requirements.
- Install fixtures, jigs, work-holding devices, and cutting tools.
- Set machine offsets, tool lengths, work coordinates, and machine parameters.
- Conduct first-piece inspections before production release.
- Verify setup accuracy and ensure compliance with drawing specifications.
CNC Machine Operation
- Operate CNC lathes, machining centers, VMCs, HMCs, and multi-axis CNC machines.
- Monitor machine performance during operation.
- Load and unload raw materials and finished components.
- Ensure continuous production with minimal downtime.
- Adjust machine settings as required during production.
Quality Control
- Inspect machined components using measuring instruments such as:
- Vernier calipers
- Micrometers
- Bore gauges
- Height gauges
- Dial indicators
- Thread gauges
- CMM (if applicable)
- Ensure products meet dimensional and quality requirements.
- Identify defects and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain inspection records and quality documentation.
Process Improvement
- Analyze machining processes for efficiency improvements.
- Recommend tooling and process modifications.
- Reduce machining cycle times, setup times, and material wastage.
- Participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning.
- Diagnose and resolve machine, tooling, and programming issues.
- Coordinate with maintenance personnel for major repairs.
- Report machine abnormalities and downtime incidents.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Ensure compliance with ISO, quality, and manufacturing standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area following 5S principles.
- Adhere to environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Documentation
- Maintain production reports and machine logs.
- Update CNC program records and setup sheets.
- Record tooling consumption and maintenance activities.
- Prepare production and quality reports as required.
Required QualificationsEducation
- Diploma / ITI / Technical Certification in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Tool & Die Making
- Production Engineering
- Manufacturing Technology
- CNC Programming & Machining
Experience
- 3–8 years of experience in CNC programming and machine operation.
- Experience with CNC Turning Centers, VMC, HMC, or Multi-Axis Machines.
- Experience in precision machining and production environments.

- Experience in automotive, aerospace, mold & die, or precision engineering industries.
- Knowledge of TPM, Kaizen, and 5S methodologies.
