Job Summary
The Patient Counselor provides emotional, psychological, and practical support to cancer patients and their families throughout their treatment journey. The role involves patient education, treatment coordination support, financial counseling, and ensuring a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Counsel patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and available support services.
- Provide emotional support and help patients cope with cancer-related stress and anxiety.
- Explain treatment processes, appointments, investigations, and follow-up schedules.
- Coordinate with doctors, nursing staff, and other departments to ensure seamless patient care.
- Assist patients with insurance, financial counseling, and treatment package information.
- Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions and patient interactions.
- Address patient concerns, complaints, and service-related issues promptly.
- Conduct patient satisfaction and feedback activities.
- Educate patients on treatment compliance, nutrition, and supportive care services.
- Facilitate support groups, awareness programs, and patient education initiatives.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Psychology, Medical Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in hospital, oncology, or healthcare counseling.
- Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and confidentiality.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Patient satisfaction score.
- Counseling coverage for eligible patients.
- Patient complaint resolution rate.
- Treatment compliance and follow-up adherence.
- Timely coordination of appointments and services.
- Documentation accuracy and completeness.
Preferred Experience: Oncology, tertiary care hospitals, palliative care, or patient support programs.
Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
