About Us
Shivaalaya School of Dance is a classical arts studio based in JP Nagar 7th Phase, Bangalore. Beyond Bharatanatyam, we are expanding our offerings to include wellness and movement practices, and we are looking for the right person to bring yoga to our community of students .
We are looking for a qualified, dedicated Carnatic Music teacher to conduct vocal classes at our studio on a part-time basis. This is a flexible, independent arrangement suited to a musician who is already teaching or performing and would welcome a well-established studio setting to grow a student community of their own.
Your income from this engagement is tied directly to the strength and consistency of the batches you run. The more your student base grows, the more your earnings reflect that — with no upper limit on what the engagement can become over time.
What You Will Do
- Plan and conduct Carnatic music classes — vocal, veena, violin, or mridangam — based on your specialisation
- Teach students across levels, from absolute beginners to those preparing for graded examinations or performances
- Structure lessons with a balance of sruti, raga, and composition practice appropriate to each student's stage
- Coordinate with the studio on scheduling, student communication, and any joint performances or events
- Participate, where relevant, in studio annual day and cultural events — our students perform, and live music is always welcome
What We Are Looking For
- Formal training in Carnatic music — a degree, diploma, or recognised graded examination (Trinity, Madras Music Academy, Karnataka Ganakala Parishad, or equivalent) is preferred
- Minimum 1–2 years of teaching experience — private tuition, institution, or sabha setting
- Proficiency in at least one of: Carnatic vocal, veena, violin, or mridangam
- Ability to teach in a structured and patient manner across age groups — children and adults
- Comfortable communicating in Kannada and/or Tamil — a significant advantage given the student community in South Bangalore
- Based in or near South Bangalore — JP Nagar, Jayanagar, Banashankari, or nearby areas preferred
Engagement Details
- Type: Part-time, flexible
- Location: Shivaalaya School of Dance, 4th Floor, Sai Arcade, RBI Layout, JP Nagar 7th Phase, Bangalore
- Schedule: Morning and/or evening slots available — mutually agreed
- Compensation: Performance-linked — based on batch size and sessions conducted. Details can be discussed
