We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CNC/VMC Setter to join our dynamic manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Computer Numerical Control (CNC) and Vertical Machining Center (VMC) machines to produce high-quality precision parts according to specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, blueprint reading, and quality control to ensure efficient and accurate production.
- Set up CNC/VMC machines by installing and adjusting tools, fixtures, and work offsets according to engineering blueprints, setup sheets, and work instructions.
- Load and unload raw materials and finished parts from machines, ensuring proper clamping and alignment.
- Read and interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and G-code/M-code programs to determine machining operations, sequences, and specifications.
- Perform machine adjustments, tool changes, and program edits as necessary to optimize performance and achieve desired part dimensions and surface finishes.
- Conduct first-off inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges) to ensure parts meet specified tolerances and quality standards.
- Monitor machine operation, detect malfunctions, and troubleshoot issues such as tool wear, material defects, or program errors, making necessary corrections.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs, to ensure optimal machine performance and longevity.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Collaborate with engineers, programmers, and quality control personnel to resolve technical issues and improve manufacturing processes.
- Document production activities, including setup parameters, quality checks, and any deviations or issues encountered.
- Train and mentor junior operators on machine setup and operational best practices.
- Ensure efficient use of materials and minimize scrap.
