Core Responsibilities
Quantity Takeoffs:
- Reviewing 2D drawings and 3D models to calculate the exact quantities of materials (concrete, asphalt, steel, earthwork) required for a project.
- Assessing labor hours and equipment needs (excavators, cranes, pavers) based on project scope and soil conditions.
- Soliciting and evaluating quotes from subcontractors and vendors to ensure competitive pricing.
- Identifying potential risks and implementing "contingency" costs to mitigate financial exposure.
- Performing site visits to understand geographical challenges, access constraints, and existing infrastructure.
- Analyzing soil reports and topographical data to estimate excavation and grading costs accurately.
- Working closely with Project Managers and Engineers to align the estimate with construction methods.
- Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to secure favorable terms and pricing.
