Job Description – Manager – Tax Advisory, Litigation & Regulatory Services (Family Office)
Position Summary
The Manager – Tax Advisory, Litigation & Regulatory Services will support the CEO in delivering comprehensive tax, regulatory, and family office advisory solutions to HNI/UHNI families, promoters, family-owned businesses, trusts, and investment entities. The role involves tax advisory, litigation management, compliance oversight, FEMA advisory, succession planning support, and coordination with external professionals to ensure seamless client service delivery.
The individual will work closely with client families, legal advisors, investment teams, accountants, and external consultants to address complex tax and regulatory matters while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and client service.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Advisory & Wealth Structuring
· Assist in providing tax-efficient wealth structuring solutions for HNI/UHNI families and promoter groups.
· Analyze tax implications of investments, business restructuring, succession plans, real estate transactions, and liquidity events.
· Support implementation of family trusts, holding structures, LLPs, investment vehicles, and family office structures.
· Prepare tax opinions, advisory notes, presentations, and client recommendations.
· Conduct tax research on complex issues and provide practical solutions.
· Monitor changes in tax laws and judicial precedents impacting client families.
Tax Compliance & Review
· Review income tax returns, tax computations, capital gains workings, and tax disclosures for individuals, trusts, LLPs, companies, and other family entities.
· Monitor advance tax, TDS, withholding tax, and reporting obligations.
· Coordinate with internal and external compliance teams to ensure timely completion of statutory requirements.
· Identify tax risks and compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions.
· Maintain tax compliance trackers and reporting dashboards.
Tax Litigation & Controversy Management
· Manage tax assessments, reassessment proceedings, notices, surveys, and scrutiny matters.
· Draft and review responses to notices and communications from tax authorities.
· Prepare submissions, statements of facts, grounds of appeal, and supporting documentation.
· Coordinate litigation matters before Income Tax Authorities, Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals), ITAT, High Courts, and other forums.
· Liaise with senior counsels, advocates, and tax consultants on ongoing disputes.
· Maintain litigation trackers and provide periodic status updates to the CEO and client families.
· Assist in evaluating tax positions and litigation risks across client portfolios.
· Support dispute resolution initiatives including rectification applications, settlement mechanisms, and alternative dispute resolution processes.
FEMA & Regulatory Advisory
· Assist in advising clients on FEMA regulations applicable to overseas investments, foreign assets, gifts, inheritances, remittances, and cross-border transactions.
· Review foreign investment structures and transactions from a FEMA and regulatory perspective.
· Coordinate filings and reporting requirements under FEMA and RBI regulations.
· Support advisory relating to Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS), ODI, OPI, inbound investments, and overseas asset reporting.
· Monitor regulatory developments and assess implications for client families.
· Coordinate with legal and regulatory advisors on complex FEMA matters.
Trust, Estate & Succession Planning Support
· Assist in implementation of succession planning and wealth transfer structures.
· Support advisory relating to private trusts, family settlements, wills, and family constitutions.
· Analyze tax and regulatory implications of succession structures.
· Coordinate with legal advisors and trustees for implementation and documentation.
Client Relationship & Family Office Support
· Act as a day-to-day point of contact for assigned client engagements.
· Participate in client meetings and assist in presenting advisory recommendations.
· Coordinate with investment, legal, accounting, and compliance teams to deliver integrated family office solutions.
· Prepare MIS reports, tax updates, litigation summaries, and client presentations.
· Ensure timely execution of client deliverables and follow-ups.

Knowledge Management & Practice Development
· Conduct technical research on tax, FEMA, and regulatory matters.
· Prepare client alerts, technical notes, knowledge papers, and internal guidance documents.
· Develop and maintain databases relating to tax positions, litigation matters, and regulatory developments.
· Support practice development initiatives and process improvements.
Qualification
Chartered Accountant (CA). Additional qualifications such as LL.B., CS, ADIT, or Diploma in International Taxation would be an advantage. 4–7 years of post-qualification experience in Direct Tax, Tax Litigation, Family Office Advisory, Private Client Services, Big 4 firms, law firms, or reputed CA firms.

Ideal Candidate Profiles
A Chartered Accountant with approximately 5 years of post-qualification experience in taxation and litigation, preferably from a Big 4 firm, private client practice, family office, or leading CA firm. The candidate should possess strong technical knowledge of direct taxes, tax litigation, and FEMA regulations, with the ability to work closely with the CEO in servicing multiple HNI/UHNI families and coordinating complex advisory assignments across tax, regulatory, succession, and family office matters.
