Head of Department (HOD) & Associate Professor, Department of Law.
Role Description
Applications are invited from highly qualified, experienced, and dynamic academicians for the position of Head, Department of Law. The Institute seeks a visionary academic leader capable of providing strategic direction, fostering academic excellence, promoting research, and ensuring compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements governing legal education.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing academic, administrative, and strategic leadership to the Department of Law.
- Ensuring effective implementation of the curriculum and academic policies in accordance with the norms and standards prescribed by the Bar Council of India (BCI), UGC, and other regulatory authorities.
- Planning, monitoring, and evaluating teaching-learning processes to maintain high academic standards.
- Supervising faculty performance, mentoring faculty members, and promoting professional development initiatives.
- Facilitating research, publications, consultancy projects, and other scholarly activities within the department.
- Overseeing student mentoring, academic progression, discipline, and overall development.
- Coordinating departmental activities including moot court programmes, legal aid clinics, seminars, workshops, conferences, and outreach initiatives.
- Ensuring timely preparation and submission of academic reports, accreditation documents, statutory compliance records, and other institutional requirements.
- Managing departmental budgets, resources, infrastructure, and academic assets effectively.
- Promoting industry-academia interaction, collaborations with legal institutions, courts, law firms, and professional bodies.
- Supporting institutional quality assurance initiatives, accreditation processes, rankings, and regulatory inspections.
- Performing such other academic and administrative duties as may be assigned by the Institute from time to time.
Essential Qualifications
- Qualifications and experience as prescribed by the Bar Council of India (BCI), University Grants Commission (UGC), and other statutory bodies applicable from time to time.
- Ph.D. in Law from a recognized University.
- LL.M. with a consistently good academic record.
- Eligibility for appointment to the post of Professor in Law as per prevailing UGC/BCI norms.
- Minimum teaching, research, and academic administrative experience as prescribed under applicable regulations.
- Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience in heading a department, school, faculty, or academic unit in a recognized institution.
- Demonstrated leadership in academic administration, curriculum development, institutional quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience in handling BCI inspections, NAAC accreditation, and other statutory requirements.
- Significant research contributions evidenced through quality publications, funded projects, consultancy assignments, patents, or other scholarly achievements.
- Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Salary
Salary shall be as per AICTE/UGC norms and commensurate with qualifications, experience, and merit.

Pay: ₹90,000.00 - ₹120,000.00 per month
