An Industrial Engineer for the packaging industry optimizes packaging design, material usage, and production processes to improve efficiency, durability, and cost-effectiveness. They design functional, compliant packaging solutions, conduct testing (durability/safety), manage vendor partnerships, and utilize software like CAD/SolidWorks to create and optimize packaging lines. - Design & Development: Create 2D/3D packaging designs, BOM (Bill of Materials), and packaging specifications using software like SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Process Optimization: Conduct time studies, lean manufacturing, and cost reduction analysis on packaging lines to improve efficiency.
- Testing & Validation: Perform structural testing (ISTA/ASTM standards) to ensure packaging durability and safety.
- Costing & Material Management: Analyze packaging materials to optimize costs, minimize waste, and improve sustainability.
- Collaboration: Work with production, supply chain, and vendors to ensure timely project delivery and quality control.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience with CAD tools (Creo, SolidWorks) and PLM software (Windchill, Agile).
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials (paper, plastic, metal) and production methods.
