Job Description: Finance Controller
Location: Kanpur
Reporting to: CFO / Business Head
Role Overview
The Finance Controller will be responsible for managing end‑to‑end finance, costing, budgeting, and financial governance for the Large Caliber manufacturing facility at Kanpur. The role is critical in ensuring financial control, cost optimization, statutory compliance, and decision support in a highly regulated defense manufacturing environment.
The position requires strong exposure to manufacturing finance, project costing, inventory control, and defense sector compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Control & Governance
- Ensure robust financial controls, accounting accuracy, and compliance with company policies and statutory regulations.
- Oversee plant accounting, financial reporting, month‑end and year‑end closures.
- Ensure compliance with Companies Act, GST, Income Tax, and other statutory requirements.
Costing & Manufacturing Finance
- Lead product costing, standard costing, variance analysis, and margin tracking for large caliber products.
- Monitor and control manufacturing costs including raw materials, conversion costs, overheads, and capex.
- Support pricing, bid costing, and commercial evaluations for defense contracts.
Budgeting, Forecasting & MIS
- Prepare and monitor annual budgets, forecasts, and long‑range plans for the plant.
- Track actuals vs budget and drive corrective actions with operations teams.
- Develop and present financial MIS, dashboards, and performance reports to leadership.
Inventory, Capex & Working Capital
- Ensure strong control over inventory accounting, valuation, obsolescence, and provisioning.
- Monitor working capital parameters including receivables, payables, and inventory days.
- Review, monitor, and control capex proposals, execution, and capitalization.
Audit, Risk & Compliance
- Coordinate with internal auditors, statutory auditors, and government agencies.
- Ensure audit readiness and closure of audit observations.
- Support compliance with defense audits, DGAQA requirements, and contract‑specific financial obligations.
Business Partnering & Decision Support
- Act as a finance business partner to Operations, Supply Chain, and Program teams.
- Provide timely financial insights to support decision‑making and operational efficiency.
- Support contract reviews, claims, and financial risk assessments.
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop the plant finance team.
- Implement best practices in finance processes, controls, and systems.
Qualifications & Experience
- Chartered Accountant (CA) /
- 12–18 years of experience in manufacturing finance.
- At least 5–7 years in a senior finance/controller role in:
◦ Defense & aerospace manufacturing
◦ Heavy engineering / explosives / metals / automotive preferred
- Strong understanding of manufacturing costing, inventory management, and project finance.
- Experience working with ERP systems (SAP preferred).

Pay: ₹2,000,000.00 - ₹3,500,000.00 per year
