Job Summary
The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating the daily activities of housekeeping attendants to ensure that guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation. The role ensures efficient room turnover, guest satisfaction, and adherence to hotel policies and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and allocate daily tasks to housekeeping room attendants, public area attendants, and housekeeping staff.
- Inspect guest rooms, corridors, public areas, and back-of-house areas to ensure cleanliness and quality standards are maintained.
- Ensure rooms are cleaned and made ready according to hotel standards and occupancy requirements.
- Monitor housekeeping supplies, linens, guest amenities, and cleaning chemicals; report shortages and raise requisitions as required.
- Coordinate with the Front Office regarding room status updates, arrivals, departures, and VIP rooms.
- Train, guide, and motivate housekeeping staff on cleaning procedures, grooming standards, and guest service etiquette.
- Ensure proper handling of lost and found items in accordance with hotel procedures.
- Maintain housekeeping records, inspection reports, attendance, duty rosters, and shift handovers.
- Monitor staff productivity and ensure efficient use of manpower.
- Report maintenance issues and coordinate with the Engineering department for timely repairs.
- Ensure compliance with health, hygiene, fire, and safety regulations.
- Handle guest requests and complaints promptly and professionally, ensuring guest satisfaction.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience in hotel housekeeping, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Diploma / Degree in Hotel Management or Hospitality Management preferred.
- Good knowledge of housekeeping operations, cleaning chemicals, linen management, and room inspection procedures.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Ability to work in shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Basic computer knowledge (MS Office / PMS systems preferred).
