Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Anatomy Technician to support the Department of Anatomy in cadaver preservation, dissection laboratory activities, histology work, microscopy, and preparation and maintenance of anatomical museum specimens.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform cadaver embalming, preservation, and maintenance as per institutional protocols and safety guidelines.
- Assist faculty and students during cadaver dissection and anatomy practical sessions.
- Handle and maintain embalming chemicals, instruments, equipment, and cadaver storage facilities safely.
- Prepare and maintain histology specimens/slides for teaching and practical purposes.
- Perform basic tissue processing, sectioning, staining, and slide preparation as required.
- Handle and maintain microscopes and assist students/faculty with microscope-based practical work.
- Prepare, preserve, label, and maintain anatomical museum specimens.
- Perform museum specimen molding, casting, mounting, and display preparation.
- Assist in preparation of bones, organs, models, and other anatomical teaching materials.
- Maintain proper records of cadavers, specimens, slides, chemicals, instruments, and museum materials.
- Ensure cleanliness, hygiene, infection-control practices, and safety in the anatomy laboratory, dissection hall, and museum.
- Follow institutional procedures for biohazardous material, chemical handling, and biomedical waste disposal.
- Assist faculty members in preparation of teaching material, practical demonstrations, and departmental activities.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and report any malfunction or damage to the concerned authority.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of the Department / Departmental Authority.
Required Skills & Experience
- Diploma / B.Sc. / relevant qualification in Anatomy, Medical Laboratory Technology, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- Previous experience as an Anatomy Technician in a medical college or teaching institution is preferred.
- Practical experience in cadaver embalming and preservation is essential.
- Knowledge of histology techniques and slide preparation.
- Good knowledge of microscope handling and maintenance.
- Experience in anatomical museum specimen preparation, molding, casting, and preservation.
- Knowledge of anatomy laboratory safety and chemical handling.
- Good organizational and record-maintenance skills.
- Ability to work effectively with faculty members, medical students, and laboratory staff.
Preferred Candidate
Candidates having hands-on experience in cadaver embalming + histology + microscope handling + anatomical museum molding/specimen preparation will be given preference.
