Job Summary
The Machine Shop Supervisor is responsible for supervising daily machine shop operations, ensuring production targets, maintaining quality standards, and leading machine operators. The role includes monitoring CNC/VMC/conventional machining processes, improving productivity, and ensuring workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily machine shop activities and manpower.
- Plan and monitor production schedules to achieve targets.
- Ensure product quality as per engineering drawings and specifications.
- Allocate work to CNC, VMC, Milling, Lathe, and Drilling machine operators.
- Monitor machine utilization, cycle time, and productivity.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Stores departments.
- Ensure proper machine setup, tooling, and fixture availability.
- Reduce rejection, rework, and machine downtime.
- Maintain production reports and shift records.
- Implement 5S, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and safety practices.
- Train and guide operators on machining processes and quality standards.
- Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of CNC, VMC, Milling, Lathe, and Conventional Machines
- Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T basics
- Production planning and manpower management
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of measuring instruments (Vernier, Micrometer, Height Gauge)
- Leadership and team management
- MS Excel and ERP knowledge
- Good communication and reporting skills
Preferred Knowledge
- SPM Automation Machine Manufacturing
- Cutting tools, fixtures, and machining parameters
- OEE, 5S, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing
- ISO 9001 / Quality Management Systems
