Core Duties & Responsibilities
- Interpret Blueprints: Read and analyze technical diagrams, schematics, and construction blueprints to understand layout designs.
- System Installation: Lay out, wire, and install electrical panels, circuit breakers, switches, lighting fixtures, and conduits.
- System Diagnostics: Troubleshoot and isolate electrical failures or hazards using specialized equipment like ammeters, voltmeters, and testers.
- Preventative Maintenance: Inspect existing infrastructure, clean circuits, and replace worn cables or old wiring before failures occur.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to legal building codes and strict safety procedures to eliminate risks of shock or electrical fires.
- Team Collaboration: Work with project managers, general contractors, and architects to complete infrastructure projects. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
Skills & Qualifications
- Technical Mastery: Deep knowledge of electrical theory, circuitry, local building codes, and safety procedures.
- Tool Proficiency: Competency using hand tools, power drills, conduit benders, and electronic testing equipment.
- Color Vision: Ability to easily distinguish between different colored wires, which is critical for safe splicing and circuit wiring.
- Physical Stamina: Fitness to stand for long periods, climb tall ladders, and lift heavy items up to 50 pounds.
