The Service Manager – Automation will be responsible for leading the automation service function, ensuring prompt resolution of site issues, strengthening field support capabilities, and establishing robust service mechanisms to enhance customer satisfaction. The role will drive service excellence, improve machine uptime, and contribute to revenue growth through spare parts sales and automation upgrade packages.
The position will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, sales, and customer support teams to deliver world-class service solutions and ensure reliable operation of automation systems across customer sites.
Mandatory Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related disciplines (Full-time) from reputed institutes.
Preferred Qualification
- Master's Degree in Control Systems, Automation, Industrial Electronics, or Power Electronics will be an added advantage.
- 10–15 years of industry experience in Industrial Automation, Machine Building, or Capital Equipment industries.
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in automation engineering, commissioning, and field support functions.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a leadership role managing service teams and customer interactions.
- Experience in troubleshooting, commissioning, and supporting industrial automation systems at customer sites.
- PLC programming and industrial automation systems.
- HMI and SCADA system development and maintenance.
- Motion control systems, VFDs, and servo drives.
- PID temperature control and process optimization.
- Twin-screw extrusion process and auxiliary equipment integration.
- Industrial networking protocols such as Profinet, Modbus, EtherNet/IP, OPC UA.
- IIoT, remote diagnostics, and cloud connectivity.
- Functional safety systems and machine safety standards.
- Commissioning and troubleshooting of industrial machinery.
Key Skills & Competencies

- Expertise in PLC programming platforms such as Siemens (TIA Portal), Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, or Delta.

System Support and Programming
- Modify and maintain PLC programs using Siemens, Beckhoff, Allen-Bradley, or equivalent platforms.
- Support HMI and SCADA applications and ensure proper data logging and traceability.
- Integrate extruders with feeders, pelletizers, cooling systems, and auxiliary equipment.
Process Optimization
- Monitor and optimize process parameters such as screw speed, barrel temperature, pressure, and vacuum systems.
- Support quality improvement initiatives through automation enhancements.
- Implement process controls to ensure consistent product quality.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance
- Perform root cause analysis for electrical, software, and mechanical issues.
- Provide emergency support and minimize machine downtime.
- Utilize predictive maintenance tools to prevent unexpected failures.
- Guide field engineers and customers in resolving technical issues.
Safety and Compliance
- Implement and maintain machine safety interlocks and emergency shutdown systems.
- Ensure compliance with international electrical and safety standards.
- Support cybersecurity practices for operational technology systems.
Team Leadership and Documentation
- Train and mentor service engineers and machine operators.
- Maintain software backups, wiring diagrams, and service documentation.
- Develop standard operating procedures and troubleshooting guides.
- Coordinate with internal teams and customers to ensure timely resolution of issues.
