Job Summary
We are seeking an SAP ABAP Consultant with experience in ECC to S/4HANA migration/conversion projects to support custom code remediation, ABAP development, and technical adaptations required for S/4HANA. The consultant will work closely with functional and technical teams to ensure smooth system conversion, code compatibility, and performance optimization in the S/4HANA environment.
Key Responsibilities
ECC to S/4HANA Migration Support
- Support ECC to S/4HANA system conversion or selective migration activities
- Analyze custom code impacts using Simplification Item List, SPAM, and Readiness Check results
- Perform custom code remediation to ensure S/4HANA compatibility
- Assist in executing SPAU/SPDD adjustments during conversion
ABAP Development & Enhancements
- Develop and enhance ABAP objects including:
- Reports (Classical / ALV)
- Interfaces (IDoc, BAPI, RFC, File-based, REST where applicable)
- Enhancements (User Exits, BADIs, Enhancements Framework)
- Forms (SmartForms, Adobe Forms – basic exposure)
- Modify legacy ABAP code to align with S/4HANA data model changes
- Follow SAP best practices and coding standards
S/4HANA & HANA-Focused Development
- Perform ATC checks with S/4HANA rules and resolve findings
- Optimize code using Open SQL, performance guidelines, and HANA-friendly logic
- Assist in development or troubleshooting of:
- CDS Views (basic)
- Fiori backend services (basic OData support)
Testing & Production Support
- Support unit testing, integration testing, and UAT phases
- Fix defects related to migration, conversion, or regression issues
- Provide post-go-live stabilization and production support
Collaboration & Documentation
- Work with functional consultants, senior ABAP consultants, and Basis teams
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation and code comments
- Participate in knowledge transfer and code walkthrough sessions
Mandatory Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience in:
- ABAP Programming and Debugging
- Reports, Interfaces, Enhancements
- Experience with:
- Custom code remediation for S/4HANA
- SPAU/SPDD handling
- ATC and Code Inspector
S/4HANA Knowledge
- Basic understanding of S/4HANA simplification concepts
- Exposure to:
- CDS Views (consumption or basic development)
- Changes in FI (ACDOCA) or Logistics (MATDOC) data structures
- Awareness of Clean Core principles and upgrade-safe coding
Soft Skills
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with guidance
- Clear communication and documentation skills
- Willingness to learn S/4HANA and new SAP technologies
Good to Have
- Experience in Brownfield S/4HANA conversion projects
- Exposure to Fiori/UI5 or SEGW (OData service creation)
- Knowledge of SAP Activate methodology
- SAP ABAP or ABAP on S/4HANA certification
