About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic General Manager – Solar Projects to lead the planning, execution, commissioning, and overall management of Solar EPC Projects.
The ideal candidate should have strong experience across the complete solar project lifecycle, including project development, site assessment, engineering, procurement, construction, installation, testing, commissioning, grid connectivity, project billing, commercial management, and O&M.
The candidate will be responsible for managing multiple solar projects, project teams, contractors, vendors, consultants, clients, and government authorities while ensuring timely completion, quality, safety, cost control, and project profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership for Solar EPC Projects from project development and mobilization through commissioning and handover.
- Manage complete project execution, including engineering, procurement, construction, installation, testing, commissioning, and O&M coordination.
- Develop project execution strategies, schedules, manpower plans, material plans, and resource requirements.
- Monitor project progress against approved project schedules, milestones, BOQ, DPR, PERT/CPM, and contractual commitments.
- Lead multiple solar projects/sites and ensure timely achievement of project milestones.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, government authorities, DISCOMs, transmission utilities, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Oversee site survey, feasibility assessment, land-related coordination, solar resource assessment, and project mobilization.
- Coordinate with engineering teams for plant layout, DC/AC design, SLD, electrical systems, civil works, structural design, cable routing, and evacuation infrastructure.
- Manage procurement and ensure timely availability of Solar PV Modules, Inverters/PCUs, MMS structures, HT/LT equipment, transformers, cables, SCADA, protection systems, and balance-of-system materials.
- Monitor civil and structural works, including site grading, foundations, module mounting structures, control rooms, roads, drainage, fencing, and other infrastructure.
- Monitor installation of PV modules, inverters, transformers, HT/LT systems, SCADA, metering, protection systems, and associated electrical equipment.
- Ensure coordination for 33 kV/66 kV/132 kV evacuation systems, pooling substations, transmission lines, and grid connectivity, wherever applicable.
- Ensure proper coordination for testing, synchronization, commissioning, performance testing, and project handover.
- Monitor project quality and ensure compliance with approved technical specifications, drawings, standards, and client requirements.
- Ensure compliance with HSE requirements, statutory regulations, electrical safety standards, and environmental requirements.
- Monitor project budgets, cost control, cash flow, profitability, and resource utilization.
- Review BOQ, RA Bills, measurement sheets, quantity reconciliation, variation statements, extra items, and client billing.
- Coordinate with Contracts and Commercial teams regarding claims, variations, EOT, LD, contractual issues, and commercial negotiations.
- Manage contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and service providers.
- Review vendor performance, material quality, delivery schedules, and contractual commitments.
- Prepare and review DPR, MIS, project dashboards, monthly progress reports, cost reports, and management reports.
- Conduct regular project review meetings and ensure timely resolution of critical project issues.
- Identify project risks and implement appropriate mitigation and corrective actions.
- Lead project teams and mentor Project Managers, Construction Managers, Engineering Teams, Procurement Teams, Site Engineers, QA/QC, HSE, Planning, Billing, and O&M personnel.
- Ensure proper documentation, as-built drawings, test reports, commissioning records, completion certificates, and final project handover.
- Coordinate transition from EPC execution to Operation & Maintenance.
- Monitor plant performance, breakdowns, preventive maintenance, and O&M activities where applicable.
- Build strong relationships with clients, government departments, DISCOMs, consultants, lenders, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
