Site Supervisor / Site Engineer (Civil / Architecture)
Role Overview
Responsible for on-site execution of construction work, ensuring quality, timelines, cost control, and adherence to drawings and specifications. Acts as the bridge between design (architect/engineer), contractors, and the owner.
Key Responsibilities
1. Site Execution & Supervision
- Oversee day-to-day construction activities on site
- Ensure work is executed as per drawings, BOQs, and specifications
- Monitor labor productivity and contractor performance
- Prevent rework by catching mistakes early (the one thing that actually saves money)
2. Quality Control
- Check materials delivered on site (cement, steel, aggregates, finishes)
- Ensure proper workmanship across civil, finishing, and services work
- Conduct regular quality checks for shuttering, concreting, masonry, plastering, etc.
- Maintain quality checklists and reports
3. Coordination
- Coordinate with Civil Engineering consultants, Architecture teams, and contractors
- Resolve on-site issues in consultation with architect/engineer
- Ensure drawings are updated and available at site
- Communicate progress and blockers to the owner
4. Planning & Scheduling
- Track project timelines and daily/weekly progress
- Ensure work is completed as per schedule
- Identify delays early and take corrective action
- Assist in sequencing of activities
5. Measurement & Billing
- Verify quantities executed on site
- Cross-check contractor bills with actual work done
- Maintain measurement books (MB) and site records
- Control material wastage and pilferage
6. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure basic site safety practices are followed
- Monitor use of PPE and safe working conditions
- Ensure compliance with local building regulations and approvals
7. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain daily site reports (DSR)
- Keep records of materials, labor, and progress
- Capture site photos and updates regularly
- Report deviations and issues proactively
Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma / Degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture
- 1–5 years of site experience (freshers acceptable if they actually care)
- Ability to read drawings (non-negotiable, surprisingly rare)
- Practical knowledge of construction methods and materials
- Strong problem-solving and coordination skills
Working Conditions
