- Team Leadership & Planning: Supervise and allocate daily tasks to mechanical technicians, fitters, and subcontractors. Set work schedules and ensure one-week look-ahead plans align with vessel deadlines.
- Mechanical Execution: Oversee the overhaul, repair, and alignment of major marine equipment, including main and auxiliary engines, pumps, valves, hydraulic systems, and steering/propulsion gear (shafting, stern tubes, and propellers).
- Quality Control: Ensure all mechanical works comply with manufacturer specifications, shipyard standards, and classification society rules (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL). Conduct pre- and post-repair inspections and sign off on technical completion reports.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to shipyard and marine safety standards. Manage and secure safety permits, including confined space entries and hot work permits.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant discipline.
- Experience: Typically 4 to 7 years of hands-on experience in ship repair, dry-docking, or afloat technical shutdowns.
- Technical Skills: Deep practical knowledge of diagnosing mechanical faults and reading complex engineering drawings.

- Zero Lost Time Injuries (LTI): Maintaining a strict safety record.
- First-Time Quality: Minimizing rework and ensuring successful sea trials/testing upon project completion.
- On-Time Delivery: Completing vessel mechanical scopes within the agreed dry-docking or repair window.
Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹55,000.00 per month
