The Dyeing Master is responsible for managing and controlling all dyeing operations for home textile fabrics, ensuring correct shade matching, quality standards, production targets, and cost-effective processing. The role involves supervision of dyeing personnel, recipe management, process optimization, and coordination with Quality Control, Planning, and Production departments.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Process Control
- Plan and supervise daily dyeing operations as per production schedule.
- Ensure fabrics are processed according to approved dyeing recipes and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor machine parameters such as temperature, pressure, pH, liquor ratio, and processing time.
- Ensure timely completion of dyeing batches to meet delivery commitments.
- Optimize machine utilization and productivity.
Shade Matching & Quality Assurance
- Achieve accurate shade matching as per customer and approved standards.
- Approve lab dips, bulk shade trials, and production shades before processing.
- Investigate and resolve shade variation, patchiness, barre marks, and dyeing defects.
- Coordinate with Quality Control team to maintain color fastness and fabric quality standards.
- Ensure first-time-right dyeing to minimize reprocessing and rejection.
Chemical & Recipe Management
- Develop and standardize dyeing recipes for different fabric qualities.
- Monitor consumption of dyes, chemicals, and auxiliaries.
- Control dyeing cost and reduce wastage of chemicals, water, steam, and energy.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of dyes and chemicals.
Team Management
- Lead and supervise dyeing operators, supervisors, and helpers.
- Provide technical guidance and training to shop-floor personnel.
- Ensure discipline, safety, and compliance with company policies.
- Evaluate team performance and recommend improvements.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain dyeing production records, shade approvals, and process reports.
- Track batch-wise production efficiency and quality performance.
- Prepare daily production and quality reports for management review.
- Maintain records of corrective and preventive actions.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety standards.
- Promote safe handling of chemicals and machinery.
- Support sustainability initiatives related to water, chemical, and energy consumption.
Required Qualifications
- B.Tech / B.Sc. in Textile Engineering, Textile Chemistry, Dyeing Technology, or related field.
- 8–15 years of experience in textile dyeing, preferably in Home Textile Processing.
- Strong knowledge of reactive, disperse, pigment, and specialty dyeing processes.
- Experience in Jet, Jigger, Winch, Soft Flow, or Continuous Dyeing Machines.
- Good understanding of color matching, textile chemicals, and finishing processes.
