Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
Role Overview
The SW Purchase – Development Engineer will be responsible for executing end-to-end software procurement (Vehicle software such as Alexa, connected car, Streaming services, UI tools, etc. ) activities, including RFQ releases, technical alignment with stakeholders, quote evaluation, taxation alignment, and ensuring timely supplier payments. The role demands strong coordination skills, attention to detail, and a good understanding of software procurement workflows.
Key Responsibilities
1. RFQ (Request for Quotation) Management
- Prepare and release RFQs to approved vendors.
- Ensure clarity of technical requirements and scope in RFQ documents.
2. Technical Alignment
- Coordinate with internal teams (engineering/Prodcut Planning) to gather and confirm technical requirements.
- Align vendor proposals with technical expectations and highlight deviations.
3. Quote Comparison & Evaluation
- Collect vendor quotations and prepare comparative statements.
- Evaluate cost, licensing models, support terms, and commercial conditions.
- Recommend technically and commercially suitable options.
4. Taxation Alignment
- Coordinate with finance/taxation teams for tax applicability (GST, TDS, etc.).
- Ensure quotes follow company tax norms and compliance requirements.
5. Supplier Coordination & Payables Tracking
- Work with vendors to obtain timely quotations, clarifications, and supporting documents.
- Follow up with finance teams to ensure vendors are paid on time.
- Maintain documentation and communication records.
6. Process Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure procurement activities adhere to internal SOPs and compliance policies.
- Maintain accurate records of RFQs, quotes, approvals, and purchase decisions.
Experience
- B.Tech / M.Tech
- 8-12 years of experience in software procurement / software buyer / IT purchasing.
- Experience in handling software RFQs, commercial evaluations, and vendor communication.

- Good understanding of software purchasing, licensing models, and vendor management.
- Strong analytical and comparison skills for quotation evaluation.
- Basic taxation knowledge related to software procurement.
- Ability to coordinate across teams and manage timelines.
- Understanding SaaS and agreement terms in benefit of the organization.
- Understanding of different kinds of SW products that are used in auto industry and the cost analysis for the same.
