Role description
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator with strong expertise in SQL DBA and foundational Oracle database support knowledge. The role involves managing, monitoring, troubleshooting, securing, and optimizing enterprise database environments while ensuring high availability, performance, and compliance with operational standards. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting business-critical database systems and delivering reliable database services within SLA expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot complex database issues accurately and within agreed service levels.
- Maintain and support database disaster recovery processes to ensure business continuity and rapid recovery.
- Deploy and manage database environments in accordance with organizational standards and business requirements.
- Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance tuning recommendations.
- Perform database administration, maintenance, backup, recovery, and monitoring activities.
- Ensure database security standards and integrated security requirements are followed.
- Monitor and report database storage utilization and capacity requirements.
- Develop, review, and support existing T-SQL scripts, queries, and database code.
- Monitor, tune, and manage scheduled jobs, backup processes, recovery activities, and database storage.
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve database and application performance issues.
- Collaborate with technical teams and business stakeholders to resolve database-related challenges.
- Prepare regular reports on database performance, stability, and future capacity needs.
- Document, test, and implement database changes and enhancements.
- Participate in operational support activities, including after-hours support when required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and stay current with evolving database technologies.
Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering and/or related experience.
- 5-8+ years of Database Administration experience.
- Strong hands-on administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and support experience in enterprise database environments.
- Experience with database setup, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, backup and recovery, and security management.
- Experience with database platform upgrades and migrations is an advantage.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
