Chief Operating Officer (COO) – Women Empowerment & Education

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, visionary, and mission-driven Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead the operational strategy and execution of our Women Empowerment & Education vertical. The COO will be responsible for driving organizational growth, ensuring effective program implementation, managing financial performance, and building sustainable systems that create measurable social impact.
This role requires a dynamic leader who can balance program excellence with financial discipline, including managing Profit & Loss (P&L), while scaling women empowerment and education initiatives across India.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership
- Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with the organization's mission of empowering women through education, skill development, livelihood generation, and social inclusion.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to expand programs, partnerships, and nationwide impact.
- Identify opportunities for innovation, growth, and operational excellence.
Operational Management
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Women Empowerment & Education vertical.
- Ensure seamless execution of education, vocational training, entrepreneurship, community development, and capacity-building programs.
- Design and implement SOPs, operational frameworks, and scalable systems to improve efficiency and impact.
Financial Management
- Manage the Profit & Loss (P&L) of the vertical, ensuring financial sustainability and effective resource utilization.
- Lead budgeting, financial planning, forecasting, and performance monitoring.
- Strengthen revenue streams through grants, CSR partnerships, institutional funding, and strategic collaborations.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and manage cross-functional teams across multiple locations.
- Foster a high-performance, inclusive, and mission-driven work culture.
- Develop leadership capabilities and strengthen team engagement.
Partnerships & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with government agencies, educational institutions, NGOs, CSR partners, donors, foundations, and corporate stakeholders.
- Represent the organization at national forums, conferences, and key stakeholder meetings.
- Drive collaborations that enhance program reach and sustainability.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, NGO governance standards, and funding requirements.
- Establish transparent reporting mechanisms and impact measurement frameworks to track program effectiveness and organizational performance.
Candidate Profile
- Experience: 10–20 years in leadership roles, preferably within NGOs, development organizations, social enterprises, educational institutions, or mission-driven organizations.
- Proven experience in managing Profit & Loss (P&L) for a business unit, program, or vertical.
- Strong expertise in operations management, financial planning, strategic execution, and organizational development.
- Demonstrated experience in scaling programs across multiple locations.
- Prior experience in women empowerment, education, skill development, livelihood initiatives, or community development will be a strong advantage.
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and strategic thinking abilities.
Education
- Master's degree in Management, Public Policy, Social Work, Development Studies, Education, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
