Job Summary
The Senior Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for designing, reviewing, and coordinating electrical systems for commercial interior fit-out and workplace projects. The role involves preparing electrical layouts, load calculations, BOQs, technical specifications, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes, client requirements, and project timelines. The candidate will work closely with architects, MEP engineers, project managers, and site teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective electrical design solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare electrical designs for commercial office interiors and workplace projects.
- Develop electrical layouts, single-line diagrams (SLDs), lighting layouts, power layouts, UPS, DG, earthing, and lightning protection systems.
- Perform electrical load calculations, cable sizing, voltage drop calculations, and short-circuit analysis.
- Design lighting systems and prepare lux calculations using industry-standard software.
- Coordinate with architectural, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and ELV teams to ensure integrated MEP design.
- Review client requirements, tender documents, and technical specifications.
- Prepare BOQs, material specifications, and technical submittals.
- Ensure compliance with NBC, IS Codes, CEA regulations, local electrical authority requirements, and client standards.
- Attend design review meetings and provide technical support during client presentations.
- Coordinate with procurement and project execution teams for technical clarifications.
- Review vendor drawings, shop drawings, and material submittals.
- Provide technical support during installation, testing, commissioning, and project handover.
- Resolve design-related issues during project execution.
- Mentor junior electrical design engineers and review their deliverables.
- Ensure designs are optimized for cost, efficiency, safety, and maintainability.
- Maintain project documentation and adhere to project schedules.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) or equivalent.
- 7–12 years of experience in electrical design for commercial interiors, corporate offices, or building services projects.
- Experience in Workspace Design & Build or commercial fit-out projects is highly preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems, lighting design, power systems, UPS, DG, earthing, and lightning protection.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Revit MEP/BIM is preferred.
- Familiarity with Dialux or Dialux Evo for lighting calculations.
- Knowledge of ETAP or equivalent software for electrical system analysis is an added advantage.
- Good understanding of IS Codes, NBC, IEC standards, and electrical safety regulations.
