Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior AS400 Developer to join our technology team. The ideal candidate should have a foundational understanding of the IBM AS400 (IBM i) platform and be eager to develop, maintain, and support enterprise applications. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced developers while gaining hands-on experience in AS400 application development and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, modify, and maintain applications on the IBM AS400 (IBM i) platform.
- Write and maintain programs using RPG IV (RPGLE), CLLE, SQLRPGLE, and DB2/400.
- Assist in debugging, testing, and troubleshooting application issues.
- Support day-to-day production systems and resolve technical incidents.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards.
- Work with senior developers to analyze business requirements and implement technical solutions.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for applications and processes.
- Perform unit testing and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Optimize existing programs for performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 0–2 years of experience in AS400/IBM i application development.
- Basic knowledge of RPGLE, CLLE, SQLRPGLE, and DB2/400.
- Familiarity with IBM i operating system concepts.
- Understanding of database concepts and SQL.
- Knowledge of source control/version management tools is an advantage.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to IBM Rational Developer for i (RDi) or SEU/PDM.
- Knowledge of APIs, web services, or system integration.
- Familiarity with software development life cycle (SDLC).
- Basic understanding of job scheduling and AS400 system operations.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and development methodologies.
