The Lab Technician is responsible to execute, under the supervision of the QC/QA Manager, all
functions regarding maintaining the brewery’s quality control and quality assurance program,
including quality-related analyses, operations and laboratory equipment maintenance.

- Role & Responsibilities
- Run the daily microbiological sampling, analysis and organization of data in accordance with a
- designated sampling plan
- Oversee fermentation parameters from brewhouse knockout through filtration and packaging
- (go/no-go on tank temp changes, spunding, yeast dropping, track all applicable data such as pH,
- gravity, CO 2 vols and implement an action plan)
- In charge of yeast management including harvest schedule, cell counts, viability counts, pitch
- rate calculation
- Run packaged product sampling and analysis including gas analysis, seam analysis,
- microbiological analysis and total package quality checks
- Follow established SOPs
- Maintain weekly quality report
- Maintain a neat and clean laboratory
- Care, cleaning and maintenance of all laboratory equipment
- Assist with other production functions and support as needed
- Additional responsibilities as directed by the Head Brewer & Head of Brewery Operations
- Credential & Experience
- Degree in microbiology, chemistry or other related field
- Experience – minimum 2 years as a lab technician in the brewing or food & beverage
- manufacturing industry

- Ability to stay seated at a desk for extended periods of time, as well as ability to stand, move

- Work environment can include areas that are wet and non-temperature controlled

- Training done by the QC/QA Manager on the following aspects:
- o New procedures and analysis
- o New equipment operation and maintenance
- Milestones
- Short term: follow all procedures in place under the supervision of the QC/QA Manager
- Medium term: work independently on daily tasks
- Long term: ability to run the lab in the absence of the QC/QA Manager
- Promotion
- After 3 years, based on performance, eligible to Senior QC/QA Analyst position if the following
- is met:
- o Have proven the ability to maintain thorough reports, with accurate, precise and
- reproducible data
- o Have proven the ability to maintain the lab in a clean state at all time as well as
- equipment
- o Have proven the ability to train and manage other people
- o Have proven the ability to take charge of the lab during the QC/QA Manager’s
- absence
