Reports to : Content Lead / Managing Attorney
Location : Chennai (on-site; [hybrid — 2 days remote] optional)

Experience : [2–5] years in video editing, with demonstrable AI-tool workflow
Compensation : ₹20 – ₹30k per month
Portfolio : Mandatory. Showreel or three edited pieces, at least one in Tamil
2. About the Role
Pearlpick Ventures Private Limited, a business advisory firm publishes business and legal education content for MSME owners, startups and first-generation entrepreneurs in Tamil and English. Long-form explainers, short-form reels, webinar recordings, podcast episodes and client-facing explainer videos. We are looking for an editor who can carry that output at volume without letting quality drop, and who uses AI tools as a genuine accelerator rather than a novelty.
3. Key Responsibilities
A. Core editing
· Edit long-form videos (8–25 minutes) from raw multi-cam and screen-recorded footage assembly, pacing, cutting filler, colour, audio levelling, B-roll and lower-thirds.
· Produce short-form vertical cuts (Reels, Shorts, LinkedIn video) from long-form masters, with hook-first structure in the opening 3 seconds.
· Edit webinar and training recordings into clean, chaptered, publishable versions.
· Build and maintain reusable templates intros, outros, lower-thirds, disclaimer cards, citation cards in the firm's visual identity.
· Design thumbnails and title cards, and prepare platform-correct exports for YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn and WhatsApp.
B. Language, subtitles and accessibility
· Generate, correct and burn in subtitles in Tamil and English. Auto-transcription in Tamil is unreliable, the expectation is that every Tamil caption is read and corrected by a human before publishing, including legal terms and section numbers.
· Handle Tanglish content sensibly: transliterated terms spelled consistently, section references and case names never garbled.
· Maintain a controlled glossary of recurring legal terms so spelling stays consistent across the channel.
C. AI-assisted workflow
· Use AI tooling to compress turnaround across transcription, text-based editing, silence and filler removal, audio cleanup, reframing to vertical, rough short-form selection, upscaling and background removal.
· Familiarity expected with a working combination of: Adobe Premiere Pro (Text-Based Editing, Enhance Speech, Auto Reframe) or DaVinci Resolve (Voice Isolation, Magic Mask, Smart Reframe); Descript or equivalent for transcript-driven editing; Opus Clip / Submagic / CapCut or equivalent for short-form and animated captions; Whisper-based transcription; Topaz Video AI for upscaling and denoise; Adobe Firefly / Canva for generative fills and graphic assets.
· Set up and document repeatable AI-assisted pipelines so the same edit does not have to be reinvented weekly, and train other team members on them.
· Evaluate new tools quarterly and make a short written recommendation on what is worth adopting and what is not.
D. Editorial discipline and legal guardrails This is a law firm. The following are conditions of the role, not preferences.
· Never alter substance. Cuts may tighten delivery. Cuts may not change what a section says, what a court held, or the sense of a caveat. If a cut changes meaning, flag it — do not fix it yourself.
· No synthetic voice or face of any lawyer in the firm without prior written approval for that specific video. No AI-generated likeness of any real person, judge, official or client, ever.
· No AI-fabricated citations, statistics or case names in captions, titles, descriptions or on-screen graphics. Every section number and case citation on screen must be lifted from the approved script, not typed from memory or generated.
· Music and stock must be licensed. Only assets from the firm's licensed libraries or verified public-domain / CC sources, with the licence record saved to the asset log. Unlicensed music is copyright infringement under the Copyright Act, 1957, and in practice means channel strikes.
· Disclose AI use where a platform or the content itself requires it — for example, where footage has been meaningfully synthetically generated or altered.
· Every published video carries the standard disclaimer card and the firm's approved end-card. Content is educational and informational; it is not solicitation of work and must not be edited to read as an advertisement for services. Titles, thumbnails and captions go through content approval before publishing.
· Confidentiality: raw footage frequently contains client names, matter details and screen-shared documents. Nothing leaves the firm's storage. Nothing is uploaded to a third-party AI tool that is not on the approved-tools list.
E. Operations
· Maintain the media library, ingest, naming convention, project archiving, backup and version control.
· Work to a published content calendar and hold to agreed delivery dates.
· Track basic performance data (retention curve, average view duration, drop-off points) and feed it back into how the next edit is cut.
4. Skills and Attributes
Essential
1. Command of at least one professional NLE, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro at a level where speed comes from keyboard, not menus.
2. Demonstrated AI-assisted editing workflow, with a portfolio piece you can walk us through end to end.
3. Working audio skills: levelling, noise reduction, de-essing, matching mismatched sources. Bad audio kills a legal explainer faster than bad video.
4. Basic motion graphics, After Effects or equivalent for lower-thirds, callouts and simple kinetic text.
5. Fluency in Tamil and English, sufficient to proofread subtitles in both.
6. Thumbnail and title-card design sense; Photoshop, Figma or Canva.
7. Reliability on deadlines. Content that ships late has no value.
Preferred
· Prior work on educational, training or explainer content, or with a professional services firm.
· Colour grading beyond basics.
· Familiarity with YouTube channel management — chapters, cards, end screens, metadata.
· Some camera and lighting ability for in-house shoots.
· Interest in law or business. You do not need a legal background, but you should be curious enough to understand what you are cutting.
5. How to Apply
Send your CV, showreel or portfolio links, and a one-paragraph note on how you actually use AI in your edit workflow which tools, at which stage, and what you still do manually to our email id subject line "Video Editor — [Your Name]".
Shortlisted candidates will be given a paid test edit: raw footage of a legal explainer, to be cut to a 90-second vertical with Tamil and English subtitles.
Pay: From ₹20,000.00 per month
Work Location: In person
