Job Summary:
Responsible for accurately translating facility and Profee surgical procedures into CPT, ICD‑10, and HCPCS codes with appropriate modifiers
Key Responsibilities:

Review surgical documentation and patient charts. Assign appropriate CPT, ICD‑10, and HCPCS codes for surgical procedures.

Verify documentation supports procedure, diagnosis, and complications per payer standards.

Query surgeons/clinicians to clarify unclear or missing documentation.

Maintain production standards and turnaround times.

Stay updated on coding guidelines (CPT/ICD‑10/HCPCS) and healthcare regulations.

Assist in coding team training and mentor junior coders.
Qualifications:

Certified Coders Only
-
2+ years of experience in surgical medical coding (same-day or ambulatory, Profee/Facility).

Proficiency with coding software/tools

Strong knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures (10000 to 60000 series both Minor and Major procedures)

Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
Prior experience in same-day surgery coding.
