Core Responsibilities
1. Project Execution & Planning
- Lead execution of large-scale power plant construction (thermal, hydro, renewable).
- Prepare and monitor project schedules, milestones, and resource plans.
- Ensure alignment with overall project timelines and corporate goals.
2. Site Management
- Oversee all on-site construction activities including civil, mechanical, and electrical works.
- Coordinate with EPC contractors, consultants, and vendors.
- Ensure optimal utilization of manpower, machinery, and materials.
3. Contract & Vendor Management
- Manage EPC contracts, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Evaluate contractor performance and resolve disputes or delays.
- Ensure adherence to contractual obligations and technical specifications.
4. Quality Assurance & Safety
- Implement strict quality control systems for construction activities.
- Enforce safety protocols in line with industrial standards.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and environmental regulations.
5. Budgeting & Cost Control
- Monitor project budgets and expenditures.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
- Handle financial approvals and reporting for construction activities.
6. Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with internal departments (design, procurement, finance).
- Coordinate with government authorities and regulatory bodies.
- Handle audits, inspections, and progress reviews.
Leadership & Administrative Role
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, managers, and site staff.
- Conduct performance reviews and manpower planning.
- Drive productivity and maintain high morale at project sites.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare progress reports for senior management.
- Track KPIs like time, cost, quality, and safety.
- Maintain documentation for compliance, audits, and future reference.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of power plant construction (especially thermal projects).
- Expertise in project management tools (like Primavera/MS Project).
- Leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with Indian regulatory frameworks (CEA, MoEF, etc.).
Typical Eligibility (Indicative)
- B.E./B.Tech in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical (often with MBA/PGDM preferred).
- 15–20+ years of experience in large infrastructure or power projects.
- Prior experience in PSU or large EPC organizations is highly valued.
Work Environment
- Mostly site-based role (remote project locations).
- Requires frequent coordination with HQ and multiple stakeholders.
- High-pressure role with strict deadlines.
