We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented News Desk Executive to coordinate newsroom operations, monitor news developments, and ensure the smooth flow of news content from reporting to publication.
Job Summary
The News Desk Executive plays a vital role in the newsroom by monitoring news sources, coordinating with reporters and editors, verifying information, managing news assignments, and ensuring timely publication of news content across all platforms. The ideal candidate should possess excellent editorial judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor national, regional, and international news through news agencies, social media, government sources, and other reliable platforms.
- Coordinate with Reporters, Bureau Chiefs, Assignment Editors, Producers, Anchors, and Video Editors to ensure seamless newsroom operations.
- Verify news information before publication and ensure factual accuracy.
- Prepare daily news schedules, story lists, and editorial updates.
- Assist in writing, editing, and proofreading news copies, headlines, and summaries.
- Prioritize breaking news and ensure quick dissemination across digital and broadcast platforms.
- Maintain communication with field reporters for real-time updates.
- Upload and manage news content through the Content Management System (CMS).
- Track the status of assigned stories and ensure timely completion.
- Archive news stories, images, and video assets for future reference.
- Ensure compliance with editorial policies, journalistic ethics, and legal guidelines.
- Support live news operations and special event coverage when required.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of current affairs and newsroom operations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Hindi and English.
- Good editing, proofreading, and fact-checking abilities.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Familiarity with Content Management Systems (CMS) and digital publishing tools.
- Knowledge of social media platforms and digital news distribution.
- Excellent coordination and teamwork skills.
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, English, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in a newsroom, digital media, television, print media, or editorial operations.
- Freshers with excellent news sense, writing skills, and newsroom knowledge may also apply.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on a news desk in a digital or television newsroom.
- Knowledge of newsroom software and editorial workflow systems.
- Familiarity with SEO-based news writing and CMS platforms.
- Understanding of media laws, copyright regulations, and journalistic ethics.
- Basic knowledge of video and image editing tools is an added advantage.
