Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Freelance Medical Coding Trainer to deliver high-quality training programs for aspiring and working medical coders. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in medical coding standards, healthcare documentation, and coding guidelines, along with proven training experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct online/offline medical coding training sessions.
- Train candidates on ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and medical terminology.
- Explain coding guidelines, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
- Develop and update training materials, presentations, and assessments.
- Evaluate trainee performance through tests, assignments, and mock coding exercises.
- Provide guidance for certification exams such as CPC, CCS, CCA, or equivalent.
- Support trainees with coding queries and career guidance.
- Stay updated with coding regulation changes and industry trends.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3.5 years of experience in Medical Coding and/or Medical Coding Training.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, Anatomy, Physiology, and Medical Terminology.
- Experience in training freshers and experienced coders.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and mentoring skills.
- Certification such as AAPC CPC, AHIMA CCS, or equivalent is preferred.
- Ability to conduct interactive and result-oriented training sessions.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in specialty coding (HCC, Risk Adjustment, E&M, Surgery, Radiology, etc.).
- Familiarity with healthcare documentation and auditing processes.
- Experience with virtual training platforms such as Zoom, Teams, or Google Meet.
