We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Purchase Executive to manage end-to-end procurement operations, supplier negotiations, and material planning. In this role, you will be the bridge between our manufacturing requirements and our supply chain, leveraging your technical expertise in sheet metal and raw materials to ensure high-quality inputs, cost efficiency, and seamless production continuity.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct Purchase Operations
- Source, negotiate, and execute spot and routine purchases for manufacturing inputs while ensuring optimal cost, quality, and delivery timelines.
- Evaluate supplier quotations, negotiate commercial terms (pricing, payment conditions, lead times), and issue accurate Purchase Orders (POs) within the ERP system.
- Manage vendor relationships and proactively resolve pricing discrepancies, billing errors, or invoicing blocks with the finance department.
- Order Follow-Up & Logistics
- Track open purchase orders proactively to ensure on-time delivery from suppliers and prevent production downtime.
- Coordinate daily with logistics, freight forwarders, and warehouses to monitor shipment status, customs clearance, and inbound material movement.
- Escalate potential stockouts, shipping delays, or supply chain bottlenecks immediately to production planning teams.
- Sheet Metal & Manufacturing Expertise
- Apply technical knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes—such as laser cutting, bending, stamping, punching, welding, and surface treatments like powder coating or galvanization—to evaluate supplier capabilities and component manufacturability.
- Analyze engineering drawings, 2D/3D CAD files, and bills of materials (BOM) to validate specifications and assess cost drivers.
- Collaborate with quality and design engineering teams to review tool designs, first article inspection (FAI) reports, and resolve non-conformances.
- Raw Material Knowledge & Sourcing
- Utilize comprehensive technical expertise across various raw material grades, including cold rolled (CR), hot rolled (HR), galvanized iron (GI), stainless steel (SS), and aluminum sheets.
- Monitor market trends, pricing volatility, and commodity indices to forecast costs and time strategic raw material purchases.
- Ensure incoming raw materials comply with industry standards (ASTM, BIS, DIN) and verify mill test certificates (MTC) for material grade, thickness tolerances, and mechanical properties.
- Performance & Cost Optimization
- Drive cost-reduction initiatives through effective supplier negotiations, value engineering, and alternative sourcing strategies.
- Maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) including On-Time Delivery (OTD), Purchase Price Variance (PPV), incoming material rejection rates, and vendor scorecard ratings.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Purchase Executive or Procurement Officer within a manufacturing, fabrication, or sheet metal industry setting.
- Strong technical background with hands-on understanding of sheet metal components and ferrous/non-ferrous raw materials.
- Proficiency in ERP software and advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and cross-functional communication skills.
