Job Title: Geographic Design & 3D Mapping Intern
Role Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented and tech-savvy Mapping Intern to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in transforming static 2D floor plans into dynamic, interactive 3D environments. This is a perfect opportunity for students or recent grads in Geospatial Science, Architecture, Graphic Design, or Urban Planning to build a professional portfolio using industry-leading tools like Mapbox. 3D digital twin.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Conversion: Interpret and digitize 2D architectural floor plans (PDF, CAD, or image files) for digital mapping environments.
- 3D Modeling: Assist in creating and refining 3D building models and interior layouts using tools such as SketchUp, Blender, or Mapbox Tilesets.
- Mapbox Integration: Use Mapbox Studio and GL JS to style, layer, and publish interactive maps.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure spatial accuracy and aesthetic consistency across all map layers.
- Collaboration: Work closely with our [Product/Engineering] team to integrate maps into our platform.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Mapbox Studio or similar web-mapping platforms along with QGIS/ArcGIS
- Design Tools: Experience with 3D modeling software (e.g., Blender, AutoCAD, Revit, or SketchUp).
- Spatial Thinking: Ability to visualize 3D spaces from 2D data and understand scale and orientation.
- Attention to Detail: A "pixel-perfect" mindset—you care about labels, colors, and line weights.
- Bonus Points: Basic knowledge of JavaScript/CSS, experience with GIS software or familiarity with GeoJSON/Tilesets.
