We are looking for a dynamic, highly-motivated, articulate and numbers-driven thinker, Chartered Accountant to join our Finance team. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be responsible for all of the financial and operational reporting for our multiple divisions.
This includes working on annual budgets, managing accounts receivable, managing accounts payable and all overseeing all matters relating to finance and accounting.
Knowledge and Skills
Strong familiarity with general accounting principles – Senior Accountant must have a strong working knowledge of the accounting cycle and steps needed to enter transactions, create reports, make invoices and statements, and reconcile accounts regularly
Attention to detail – a small error in a customer’s account can cause incorrect invoices or failed payments
Strong IFRS knowledge
- Corporate Tax Experience
- Ability to write technical memos and do accounting policy research
- Transportation experience is a strong asset
- Desire to work in a fast paced, scale up environment
- Technical proficiency and experience operating in multiple jurisdictions and managing compliance requirements across multiple subsidiaries
- Microsoft excel enhanced knowledge is an asset
Job Responsibilities
- Support with monthly financial close process: prepare reconciliations, adjust accruals, compile margin data, and prepare consolidated financial statements for review
- Prepare complete, timely and accurate financial reporting for monthly, quarterly and annual periods
- Lead the review and analysis of annual budgets in conjunction with management
- Full cycle accounting responsibilities – bank reconciliations/credit card reconciliations/journal entries
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple project assignments
- Recommend new procedures, instructions and system modifications to improve the efficiency, timeliness, accuracy and completeness of financial accounting practices
- Willingness and capacity to meet fluctuating workload demands
