Process & Quotation Engineer – Precision Machining
Job Summary
We are a precision aerospace machine shop looking for a Process & Quotation Engineer who can take a 2D blueprint and build a complete, manufacturable process plan with a competitive, defensible quote.
Key Responsibilities
- Blueprint to Process: Read 2D drawings and decompose them into a complete operation sequence — every setup, datum, tolerance, and inspection step. Flag risky features early.
- Quoting: Develop realistic cycle times for each operation and prepare quotes for machining, grinding, coating, heat treat, welding, and assemblies up to 80+ components.
- Technical Review: Interpret GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and explain how each control impacts process and cost.
- Material & Process Knowledge: Quote across a wide material range — Titanium, Aluminum, Inconel, Stainless Steel, Brass — and common outside processes like anodize, passivate, EDM, heat treat.
- Shop Floor Reality: Provide setup sheets, tool lists, and docs that machinists can run without guesswork. Troubleshoot chatter, chip evacuation, and workholding issues.
- AS9100 Compliance: Work in a revision-controlled environment with full traceability. Support AS9102 First Article documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Diploma / B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Production Engineering
- Experience: 4-8 years in CNC machining, process planning, or estimation for a build-to-print shop
- Must-Have Skills
- Ability to process-plan and quote directly from 2D blueprints without a CAD model
- Expert GD&T interpretation and its impact on process/cost
- Hands-on experience with CNC mills, lathes, grinders, and outside processes
- Cycle time estimation and cost breakdown for parts and assemblies
- Working knowledge of AS9100 Rev D quality systems
- Materials: Experience with Titanium, Aluminum, Inconel, Stainless, and common aerospace materials
Preferred Qualifications
- CAM/CAD experience for toolpath verification and time study
- AS9102 First Article preparation experience
