Job Description – SAP BASIS Administrator (7–9 Years Experience)
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced SAP BASIS Administrator with 7–9 years of hands-on experience to manage and support SAP landscapes across ECC6 and S/4HANA environments. The role involves system administration, monitoring, performance tuning, database management (Oracle & HANA), and operating system administration (Windows & Linux), ensuring high availability, security, and optimal system performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform end-to-end SAP BASIS administration across ECC6 and S/4HANA systems, including system installation, configuration, upgrades, patches, and transports.
- Monitor SAP systems using SAP monitoring tools and SAP Solution Manager (SolMan) to ensure system health, performance, and availability.
- Proactively manage logs, analyze system dumps, short dumps (ST22), system logs (SM21), and performance issues, and perform root cause analysis.
- Administer SAP databases including Oracle and SAP HANA, covering installation, backup/restore, performance tuning, user management, and troubleshooting.
- Perform regular system health checks, background job monitoring, spool management, and system housekeeping activities.
- Manage Transport Management System (TMS) across development, quality, and production landscapes.
- Support SAP kernel upgrades, support pack implementations, and system refresh/copy activities.
- Implement and maintain SAP security in coordination with security teams, including user administration and role-related support.
- Administer and support underlying operating systems (Windows and Linux), including OS-level patching, file system management, performance monitoring, and system troubleshooting.
- Lead and coordinate incident resolution, root cause analysis, and change implementation across SAP environments.
- Work closely with functional, technical, and infrastructure teams during deployments, outages, and planned maintenance windows.
- Maintain system documentation, SOPs, operational runbooks, and knowledge base articles.
- Participate in on-call support and provide production support for critical issues.
Required Skills & Experience
- 7–9 years of hands-on experience in SAP BASIS administration.
- Strong experience supporting ECC6 and/or S/4HANA environments.
- Hands-on experience with SAP monitoring tools and SAP Solution Manager (SolMan).
- Strong experience in log management, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Proven expertise in Oracle and SAP HANA database administration.
- Strong working knowledge of Windows and Linux OS administration in SAP landscapes.
- Experience with system upgrades, kernel patches, transports, and system copies.
- Familiarity with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle high-severity production issues.
- Good communication skills and experience working in cross-functional teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience with HA/DR setups.
- Exposure to cloud-based SAP environments (AWS/Azure/GCP).
- SAP BASIS / HANA certifications.
- ITIL process knowledge.
