Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically sound QA Engineer/Executive to join our Quality Assurance team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the structural integrity, polymer performance, and regulatory compliance of our flexible packaging products, specifically focusing on biodegradable films (biofilms) and industrial bags.
You will oversee raw material testing, in-process quality checks, and final product validation using standard polymer testing methodologies to meet both national and international packaging standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Material & Polymer Testing: Conduct rigorous mechanical and thermal testing of polymer resins, biofilms, and finished bags.
- Core Parameter Evaluation: Hands-on execution and analysis of critical quality parameters, including:
- Melt Flow Index (MFI): Testing resin flow properties to ensure consistency in extrusion.
- Tensile Strength & Elongation: Assessing the load-bearing capacity and elasticity of films to prevent tearing during industrial use.
- Ash Content Analysis: Determining filler percentages and checking the purity/composition of bio-based compounds.
- Dart Impact & Tear Resistance: Evaluating the impact resistance and durability of the bags.
- In-Process & Final QC: Monitor the extrusion, printing, and bag-making lines to identify and rectify defects (e.g., thickness variations, sealing issues, or gauge variations).
- Biofilm Compliance: Ensure biofilms meet compostability and biodegradation standards (such as ISO 17088 / IS 17088) and manage aging studies for biodegradable plastics.
- Documentation & CAPA: Maintain accurate lab reports, Certificate of Analysis (CoA) records, and drive Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) for any internal or customer non-conformances.
- Calibration & Maintenance: Oversee the calibration and upkeep of laboratory testing equipment (UTM, MFI Tester, Muffle Furnace, etc.).
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: B.Tech / Diploma in Polymer Technology, Plastics Engineering (CIPET alumni highly preferred), or an M.Sc. in Chemistry / Material Science.
- Experience: 2 to 5 years of core QA/QC experience in blown film extrusion, flexible packaging, or the bioplastics/biofilm industry.
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong working knowledge of polymer testing equipment (Universal Testing Machine, MFI tester, Dart impact tester).
- Familiarity with Indian and International standards (ASTM, ISO, IS) relevant to plastics and compostable packaging.
- Understanding of film properties like gauge variation, COF (Coefficient of Friction), and heat-seal strength.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical mindset, excellent problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills to coordinate with production and R&D teams.
