Job Summary
The Restaurant Captain is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the restaurant floor, ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining service standards, and leading the service team. The role involves coordinating with kitchen staff, managing guest requests, and ensuring smooth and efficient restaurant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of restaurant service staff during shifts.
- Welcome and assist guests, ensuring a pleasant dining experience.
- Assign duties and sections to waiters and support staff.
- Monitor food and beverage service to ensure quality and timely delivery.
- Handle guest complaints and resolve service issues professionally.
- Ensure compliance with company service standards, hygiene, and safety regulations.
- Coordinate with the kitchen and bar to ensure smooth service operations.
- Train, coach, and motivate restaurant staff to maintain high performance.
- Inspect dining areas before, during, and after service to ensure cleanliness and proper setup.
- Monitor staff grooming, attendance, and discipline.
- Assist in inventory control, stock monitoring, and minimizing wastage.
- Prepare daily shift reports and communicate operational issues to management.
- Promote menu items and upsell food and beverage offerings.
- Ensure accurate billing and payment procedures are followed.
- Support restaurant management in achieving sales and customer satisfaction goals.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in restaurant operations, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good knowledge of food and beverage service standards.
- Ability to handle customer complaints calmly and professionally.
- Familiarity with POS systems and restaurant operations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
