About the Role
Naruvi Hospitals is seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant Endocrinologist to join our Endocrinology Department. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive care for patients with endocrine and metabolic disorders, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver evidence-based, patient-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, evaluate, and manage patients with endocrine and metabolic disorders.
- Provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient endocrinology consultations.
- Manage patients with conditions including:
- Diabetes mellitus (Type 1, Type 2, and gestational diabetes)
- Thyroid disorders
- Pituitary disorders
- Adrenal disorders
- Parathyroid and calcium metabolism disorders
- Osteoporosis and metabolic bone diseases
- Obesity and metabolic syndrome
- Reproductive and hormonal disorders
- Develop individualized treatment plans, including lifestyle interventions, pharmacotherapy, and long-term disease management.
- Interpret endocrine laboratory investigations and imaging findings to guide diagnosis and treatment.
- Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, nephrologists, cardiologists, ophthalmologists, dietitians, diabetes educators, and other healthcare professionals to provide multidisciplinary care.
- Educate and counsel patients and their families regarding disease management, medication adherence, nutrition, and lifestyle modifications.
- Ensure accurate clinical documentation and adherence to hospital policies and clinical protocols.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, departmental meetings, CMEs, and academic activities.
- Mentor junior doctors, residents, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals where applicable.
Qualifications
- DM/DNB in Endocrinology (or equivalent qualification recognised by the National Medical Commission).
- MD/DNB in General Medicine as the qualifying postgraduate degree.
- Valid Medical Council registration.
Experience
- Minimum: 1 year
- Maximum: 5 years
- Experience in managing complex endocrine disorders and diabetes care is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong clinical expertise in endocrinology and metabolic diseases.
- Excellent diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.
- Expertise in diabetes management, including insulin therapy and diabetes technologies.
- Strong communication, counselling, and patient education skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Commitment to evidence-based medicine, patient safety, and ethical clinical practice.
Work Schedule
- Shift Pattern: Rotational shifts
- Working Hours: 9 hours per day
- Working Days: 6 days per week
- Participation in emergency and on-call duties as per departmental roster.
- Analyzing, examining, and investigating patients and their medical histories for signs and symptoms of hormonal imbalances.
- Advising, ordering, performing tests, and interpreting the results.
- Discussing diagnoses with patients, explaining treatment options, and giving advice on medications, lifestyle and dietary changes, and other preventative measures.
- Carrying out follow-up appointments, monitoring patient progress, adjusting treatment plans and medications, and updating patient records.
- Supporting patients with serious or complex endocrine conditions and their loved ones.
- Conducting research and studies on the endocrine system and its diseases, disorders, and conditions to develop new treatment techniques.
- Remaining up-to-date on current discoveries, developments, trends, research, and technology.
Endocrinologist Requirements:
- A medical degree in endocrinology and the successful completion of a residency and fellowship. (MD, DM)
- A medical license and certification to practice endocrinology.
- A thorough understanding of the endocrine system and its diseases, disorders, and conditions.
- Strong analytical abilities to provide accurate diagnoses.
- Excellent decision-making, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to speak multiple languages will be advantageous.
