Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Management
* Plan, organize, and control preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of all plant equipment (reactors, SO₃ plant, pumps, blowers, heat exchangers, compressors, and utilities).
* Ensure high equipment availability and minimize unplanned downtime in the continuous process.
* Develop and monitor maintenance schedules, checklists, and equipment history records (CMMS).
Reliability & Improvement
* Drive reliability improvement, root-cause analysis of failures, and corrective actions.
* Implement predictive maintenance (vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis).
* Identify and execute modification, de-bottlenecking, and energy-saving projects.
Spares, Cost & Vendors
* Plan critical spares inventory and coordinate with stores and purchase.
* Control the maintenance budget and optimize cost without compromising reliability.
* Manage AMCs, contractors, and OEM support.
Team & Coordination
* Lead and develop the mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance team.
* Coordinate with production, projects, and safety for shutdowns and turnarounds.
* Plan and execute annual shutdown maintenance.
Safety & Compliance
* Ensure safe maintenance practices – work permits, LOTO, confined-space entry, and work at height.
* Ensure statutory compliance for pressure vessels, lifting tools/tackles, boilers, and electrical installations.
* Maintain documentation, drawings, and statutory records.
Qualification & Experience
* Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering.
* Experience: 10–15 years in maintenance in a chemical / process industry, with 3–5 years in a managerial role (sulphonation / surfactants preferred).
* Certifications (preferred):
* Reliability / maintenance certification and process safety training.
Skills Required
* Strong knowledge of rotating and static equipment, utilities, and electrical/instrumentation systems.
* Experience with CMMS and preventive/predictive maintenance systems.
* Leadership, planning, budgeting, and vendor management skills.
* Knowledge of statutory and safety regulations for chemical plants.
* Strong problem-solving and root-cause-analysis capability.
