Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Plant Feed Safety & Quality (FSQ) Manager to oversee food and feed safety, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, traceability, and organic product integrity within a soybean processing facility in Burkina Faso.
The successful candidate will ensure that raw materials, production processes, finished products, storage operations, and export activities consistently meet applicable food/feed safety, quality, organic, regulatory, and customer requirements.
This is an expatriate position on bachelor status, suited to a technically strong professional with hands-on experience in soybean, oilseed, food/feed processing, or a similar manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Product Control
Oversee quality control of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished products throughout the production process.
Establish and enforce inspection and sampling procedures for incoming soybeans.
Monitor critical product parameters including moisture, protein, oil content, urease activity, and physical contaminants.
Ensure finished products are tested and released in accordance with customer, regulatory, and export requirements.
Review laboratory results, Certificates of Analysis (COAs), product specifications, and batch documentation.
Ensure appropriate inspection of storage and shipping containers before product loading.
Maintain accurate quality records and product traceability documentation.
Food & Feed Safety and Organic Compliance
Implement and maintain food/feed safety and quality management systems.
Ensure compliance with applicable organic standards, including USDA NOP and EU Organic requirements where applicable.
Develop and enforce procedures for equipment cleaning, line clearance, product changeovers, and prevention of cross-contamination.
Ensure proper segregation and identification of organic and conventional materials.
Verify that processing aids, cleaning materials, and other inputs meet applicable food/feed safety and organic requirements.
Lead preparation for customer, certification, and third-party audits.
Traceability & Product Integrity
Maintain an effective lot identification and traceability system from raw material receipt through processing, storage, and dispatch.
Conduct regular mass-balance and traceability checks.
Maintain readiness for product recall and traceability exercises.
Ensure proper segregation and identification of product lots throughout the facility.
Regulatory & Certification Compliance
Ensure compliance with applicable Burkina Faso food, feed, environmental, occupational health and safety, and export requirements.
Coordinate relevant regulatory registrations, permits, certifications, and inspections.
Serve as the primary contact during external audits and certification inspections.
Ensure timely closure of audit findings and non-conformities.
Quality Incident & Customer Complaint Management
Manage customer complaints relating to product quality, contamination, or compliance.
Lead root cause investigations into quality deviations and customer complaints.
Develop and implement effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
Prepare technical investigation reports and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.
Monitor recurring quality issues and implement preventive measures.
Raw Material Storage & Pest Management
Monitor the quality and condition of soybeans stored in silos and warehouses.
Establish inspection and sampling programs covering moisture, temperature, mold, infestation, and deterioration.
Implement appropriate measures to control insects, rodents, and other contamination risks.
Ensure pest-control practices are compatible with organic requirements where applicable.
Maintain appropriate segregation and identification of organic and conventional materials.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate SOPs, inspection reports, laboratory results, audit records, CAPA documentation, and product release records.
Prepare regular quality and food/feed safety reports for management.
Monitor quality KPIs, customer complaints, non-conformities, CAPAs, and regulatory risks.
Ensure effective document control across the plant.
Training & Team Development
Train production, warehouse, laboratory, and quality personnel on food/feed safety, quality, hygiene, contamination prevention, traceability, and organic requirements.
Conduct regular quality and food/feed safety awareness sessions.
Develop the technical capabilities of quality and laboratory personnel.
Promote a strong quality and food/feed safety culture across the facility.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Feed Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Agriculture, Biological Sciences, or a related discipline.
7–10 years of relevant experience in food/feed manufacturing, soybean processing, oilseed processing, agribusiness, or a related industrial environment.
Strong experience in Quality Assurance, Food/Feed Safety, HACCP, GMP, CAPA, RCA, and traceability.
Experience with organic certification and compliance, particularly USDA NOP and/or EU Organic standards, is highly desirable.
Experience in raw material inspection, sampling, storage quality, infestation control, and finished-product release.
Experience managing customer, regulatory, certification, and third-party audits.
Strong understanding of laboratory testing, quality specifications, COAs, and traceability systems.
Experience in an export-oriented manufacturing environment is an advantage.

Compensation & Expatriate Terms
