Job Purpose
We are seeking a meticulous and data-driven Central Accountant to take complete ownership of our centralized inventory management, stock compliance, and management information systems (MIS). This role is critical in bridging the gap between factory-floor material movements and executive decision-making. The ideal candidate will possess robust core accounting skills, a sharp eye for variance control during physical stock-taking, and advanced Excel capabilities to deliver actionable business intelligence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Inventory Management & Control
- Maintain the central inventory ledger, tracking raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods across all manufacturing units and warehouses.
- Monitor and implement controls for material tracking, including variance analysis between system stock and physical stock.
- Track and reconcile specialized material movements, factory scrap, and industrial waste processing lines.
- Analyze inventory aging, identify slow-moving or obsolete items, and recommend optimal reorder levels to prevent capital blockages.
2. Physical Stock Taking & Valuation
- Lead and coordinate periodic (monthly/quarterly) and annual physical stock-taking audits across all operational units.
- Investigate discrepancies between physical counts and system balances, perform root-cause analysis, and pass necessary adjustment entries.
- Ensure accurate valuation of inventory in strict accordance with standard cost accounting principles and statutory requirements.
3. MIS & Financial Reporting
- Design, generate, and present comprehensive daily, weekly, and monthly Inventory MIS reports for senior leadership.
- Develop tracking dashboards to highlight material yield, consumption patterns, production variances, and cost trends.
- Provide data-driven insights to support budget formulation, cost optimization, and operational planning.
4. Audit & Compliance
- Facilitate smoother execution of internal stock audits by keeping comprehensive back-up documentation ready.
- Collaborate closely with unit-level plant managers, logistics teams, and procurement departments to align documentation.
5. Purchase
Short inventory or any other materials procurement needs to be coordinated as per process.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (B.Com), (M.Com), MBA in Finance/Supply Chain.
- Experience: 3 to 6 years of experience handling core inventory accounting and MIS generation within a manufacturing or production-oriented setup.
- Software Skills:
- Proficiency in enterprise ERP software
- Advanced mastery of MS Excel / Google Sheets (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Power Query, and complex formulas for data merging).
