Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented Assistant General Manager – Purchase to lead procurement activities for our railway electrical manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in sourcing electrical and mechanical components, vendor development, strategic procurement, contract negotiation, and supply chain management within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end procurement of electrical, mechanical, and engineering materials required for railway manufacturing projects.
- Develop and execute procurement strategies to ensure cost optimization, quality, and timely availability of materials.
- Identify, evaluate, develop, and manage vendors for electrical, mechanical, fabricated, and standard industrial components.
- Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, contracts, payment conditions, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
- Coordinate with Production, Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Stores teams to ensure uninterrupted material availability.
- Monitor supplier performance through delivery, quality, and cost KPIs.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, quality standards, and statutory requirements.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives through value engineering, alternate sourcing, and localization.
- Manage purchase budgets, inventory optimization, and procurement MIS reports.
- Handle procurement for project-based and production requirements.
- Maintain strong relationships with strategic suppliers and resolve supply chain issues effectively.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
- MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain or Operations will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 8+ years of procurement experience in railway, electrical, mechanical, or industrial manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience in procurement of electrical panels, switchgear, cables, transformers, fabricated parts, sheet metal, machined components, and industrial hardware.
- Good understanding of BOM, engineering drawings, manufacturing processes, and inventory management.
