Role Summary
The Billing & Estimation Engineer will be responsible for end-to-end quantity take-off, BOQ preparation, and billing for building and fire protection works across residential and commercial projects. The role is critical in ensuring cost control, accurate invoicing, and timely certification of RA and final bills for both client and subcontractor accounts. You will help establish robust billing processes and support the project team in minimizing rework, variations, and commercial disputes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and BOQs from structural, architectural, services, and fire protection GFC drawings for residential high-rise and commercial projects.
- Develop and update item-wise rate analyses and cost estimates using standard schedules of rates (DSR/MoRTH/state SOR) and project-specific market rates as applicable.
- Prepare, verify, and submit RA bills, final bills, and subcontractor bills, including measurement sheets, abstract sheets, and reconciliation statements.
- Coordinate with site execution, planning, and contracts teams to validate quantities, monitor variations/extra items, and ensure timely capture of scope changes.
- Support cost control by tracking material and work quantities against budgets, highlighting deviations, and assisting in corrective actions to reduce rework and wastage.
- Maintain accurate billing documentation, measurement records, and supporting backup in line with client/PMC requirements and internal audit standards.
- Contribute to setting up and improving standard billing, measurement, and documentation processes for ongoing and upcoming projects, ensuring compliance with quality and safety norms.
Must Have
Essential requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in billing and estimation for building projects (residential high-rise and/or commercial) with an EPC contractor or reputed builder in India
- Hands-on experience in quantity take-off and BOQ preparation from structural, architectural, and finishing GFC drawings
- Strong knowledge of item rate analysis, basic cost estimation principles, and working with standard schedule of rates (e.g., DSR/MoRTH/state SOR) where applicable
- Practical experience in preparing RA bills, final bills, and subcontractor bills, including measurement sheets and reconciliation
- Good understanding of construction materials, methods, and standard specifications for RCC, masonry, plaster, flooring, waterproofing, and finishing works
- Proficiency in MS Excel (advanced formulas, lookups, pivot tables) for quantity and cost calculations
- Ability to coordinate with site, planning, and contracts teams to validate quantities, variations, and extra items
- Willingness to work from the Pune office with occasional site visits as required

- Exposure to pre-tender estimation and bid support for residential/commercial building projects
- Experience working under EPC/Design & Build contracts with client/PMC billing procedures
- Basic understanding of contract clauses related to measurements, variations, and escalation
- Familiarity with GST implications and standard invoicing practices in construction billing
- Experience in working with high-rise projects (20+ floors) or large commercial office parks
