JOB SUMMARY
A knitwear export company in Tiruppur is seeking a highly experienced Dyeing and Fabric Processing Specialist to take complete technical responsibility for dyed and finished knitted fabric—from greige-fabric receipt and lab-dip approval through bulk dyeing, finishing, testing and final fabric release.
The candidate must possess strong practical knowledge of knitted-fabric dyeing and finishing and must be capable of controlling external dyeing and processing units for shade, quality, physical performance, delivery and process consistency.
This is not a general fabric follow-up or dyeing-coordination position. The candidate must be able to identify technical risks, challenge processing decisions, resolve failures and ensure that only conforming fabric is released for cutting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Take technical ownership of dyeing, washing, finishing and processed-fabric performance Review greige-fabric construction, yarn composition and knitting parameters before processing Assess dyeing and finishing feasibility before order confirmation Coordinate lab dips, colour standards, light-source evaluation and buyer shade approvals Review dyeing routes, processing methods and finishing requirements according to fibre composition and end use Control external dyeing houses, compacting units, stenters and other processing vendors Plan batch quantities, lot segregation, process loss, delivery schedules and capacity requirements Ensure bulk shade consistency within and between dye lots Control GSM, finished width, shrinkage, spirality, skew, bowing, hand feel, appearance and dimensional stability Monitor colour fastness to washing, rubbing, perspiration and light according to buyer requirements Control pH, bursting strength, recovery, residual shrinkage and other required physical parameters Handle cotton, cotton blends, viscose, modal, polyester, recycled fibres, Lycra and other relevant knitted materials Provide technical control for reactive dyeing and other applicable dye classes and processes Coordinate bleaching, enzyme, bio-polish, softener, silicon, stenter, compacting, open-width processing, washing and other finishing processes Possess working knowledge of special processes such as pre-mercerised fabric, garment wash, pigment effects and value-added finishes where applicable Approve bulk dyeing and finishing only after verifying the required technical parameters Arrange and review internal and external laboratory tests before fabric release Ensure fabric is not moved to cutting without approved inspection and test status Diagnose and resolve shade variation, side-to-centre variation, patchiness, crease marks, dye stains, poor fastness, excess shrinkage, spirality and hand-feel failures Conduct root-cause analysis of failed or rejected fabric and recommend corrective action Determine whether affected fabric can be technically corrected without compromising quality Raise claims and debit recommendations against processing vendors with supporting evidence Maintain lab-dip records, shade continuity, batch cards, test reports, inspection reports and lot-wise traceability Ensure correct segregation and documentation for OCS, GRS, GOTS and other certified materials Coordinate closely with knitting, merchandising, sourcing, quality, cutting and garment-production teams Provide advance warning of shade, quality, capacity or delivery risks Submit clear daily and weekly status covering each lot, quantity, current process, expected completion, test status and risk
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma or degree in Textile Chemistry, Textile Processing, Textile Technology or a related field Minimum 12–15 years of hands-on experience in knitted-fabric dyeing and wet processing At least 4 years in a Dyeing Manager, Processing Manager, Technical Manager or senior fabric-processing role Strong practical knowledge of dyeing cotton and blended knitted fabrics Strong knowledge of dyeing recipes, process routes, machine parameters and chemical behaviour Experience with lab dips, bulk shade approvals and international buyer colour standards Strong command of shade matching and assessment under multiple light sources Thorough understanding of stentering, compacting, open-width processing and tubular finishing Strong knowledge of shrinkage, spirality, GSM, width, fastness, pH and dimensional-stability requirements Experience managing external dyeing and processing units in Tiruppur is strongly preferred Ability to diagnose failures and challenge dyeing-unit explanations with technical evidence Experience with export-quality knitwear and international buyer testing requirements Knowledge of certified and sustainable materials, including OCS, GRS and GOTS segregation Strong vendor-control, documentation and reporting ability Working knowledge of Tamil and English Must be willing to work full-time from Tiruppur and visit processing units regularly, including during critical bulk execution
COMPENSATION
Senior compensation, fully negotiable for an exceptional candidate and based on experience, technical capability and previous responsibilities.
