About the Role
Planning Labs is looking for a creative and enthusiastic 3D Designer who enjoys transforming ideas and client briefs into visually impressive, practical and executable designs.
The primary focus of this role will be designing:
- Exhibition stalls and booths
- Corporate events and conferences
- Stage and backdrop designs
- Brand activations
- Product launches
- Experiential spaces
- Photo opportunities and installations
- Retail and promotional environments
The designer may also get opportunities to work on selected residential, commercial and office interior-design projects.
We are looking for someone who is confident in Autodesk 3ds Max and V-Ray, has a good visual sense, understands dimensions and space, and most importantly can think creatively instead of simply waiting for instructions.
You do not need to know everything from Day 1.
However, you should be curious, willing to learn, comfortable researching solutions and interested in understanding how your designs are actually produced and executed on ground.
What You Will DoEvents & Exhibitions
You will work on a variety of event and experiential projects including exhibitions, conferences, activations, launches and corporate events.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Understanding client briefs, branding requirements and venue dimensions
- Developing creative concepts based on the brief
- Designing exhibition stalls, stages, event spaces, experience zones and installations
- Creating detailed 3D models using Autodesk 3ds Max
- Producing realistic renders using V-Ray
- Selecting suitable materials, textures, furniture, lighting and design elements
- Designing according to actual dimensions and available space
- Understanding the client's approximate budget while developing concepts
- Making revisions based on client and internal-team feedback
- Coordinating with the production and operations teams to ensure the design can be practically executed
- Supporting the team with design clarifications during production or execution whenever required
The objective is not only to create a beautiful render, but to create a design that can actually be built.
Interior Design Exposure
The designer may also work on selected interior-design projects such as:
- Residential interiors
- Offices and commercial spaces
- Retail spaces
- Reception areas
- Experience centres
Interior-related responsibilities may include:
- Space planning
- 3D visualization
- Furniture concepts
- Materials and finishes
- Lighting concepts
- Ceiling and wall treatments
- Basic working drawings
- Design revisions based on site conditions
Previous interior-design experience will be an advantage, but it is not mandatory for a candidate with strong 3D visualization skills and a willingness to learn.
Must-Have Software Skills
The candidate should have good working knowledge of:
Autodesk 3ds Max
V-Ray Renderer
Adobe Photoshop
Strong 3D modelling and rendering capability is one of the most important requirements for this position.
Good to Have
Knowledge of any of the following will be an advantage:
- AutoCAD
- CorelDRAW
- Adobe Illustrator
- Corona Renderer
- SketchUp
- Arnold Renderer
- Adobe InDesign
- AI-based design and visualization tools
- Other relevant 3D, visualization or post-production software
You are not required to know every software mentioned above.
Production & Execution Understanding
We prefer designers who are interested in understanding how a design moves from the computer screen to actual execution.
Basic knowledge of any of the following will be an advantage:
- Exhibition stall fabrication
- Event production
- Printing and branding
- Materials and finishes
- Carpentry and furniture
- Lighting
- Site measurements
- Basic working dimensions
- Interior execution
Candidates who do not currently have strong production knowledge should be willing to learn and coordinate with Planning Labs' production and operations teams.

References should be used for inspiration, but the final design should be practical, original and suitable for the client's requirements and budget.

Candidate Profile

Experience
1–3 years of relevant experience preferred.
Relevant backgrounds can include:
- Event design
- Exhibition design
- Experiential design
- 3D visualization
- Interior visualization
- Retail design
- Architectural visualization
Freshers with an excellent portfolio and strong 3ds Max + V-Ray skills may also apply.
Portfolio quality, creativity and practical ability will be given more importance than simply the number of years of experience.
Portfolio Mandatory
