Key Responsibilities:
- Structural Design & Analysis:
- Design, analyze, and ensure the stability of interior structural components such as walls, partitions, flooring, and ceilings.
- Ensure that interior spaces are safe and structurally sound for use, considering loads, safety codes, and building regulations.
- Collaboration with Designers:
- Work closely with interior designers to ensure that structural elements align with the overall design and aesthetic vision of the interior space.
- Provide technical advice on the feasibility of design concepts, ensuring that structural integrity is not compromised for style or functionality.
- Ensure the integration of design elements like open spaces, lighting features, and structural modifications are in line with engineering standards.
- Collaboration with Vendors and Contractors:
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to source the best materials for structural components, ensuring quality, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Work closely with contractors during construction to ensure accurate implementation of designs and that all structural elements are properly installed.
- Ensure that all purchased materials meet the project's specifications and standards.
- Project Management & Coordination:
- Oversee the construction phase of interior projects, ensuring that the structural components are installed correctly and on time.
- Ensure smooth communication between designers, vendors, contractors, and the project team, addressing any issues or delays efficiently.
- Site Surveys & Inspections:
- Conduct site assessments to evaluate existing conditions and determine any necessary structural improvements or modifications.
- Inspect interior construction work to ensure it meets quality standards, building codes, and the agreed-upon design specifications.
- Material Selection & Sustainability:
- Select appropriate construction materials that are durable, cost-effective, and suit the intended design of the interior space.
- Ensure that materials used are sustainable and environmentally friendly, aligning with the project's sustainability goals.
- Building Codes & Safety Standards:
- Ensure all structural work complies with local building codes, health and safety regulations, and any other relevant laws.
- Address any issues related to fire safety, accessibility, and structural integrity.
- Cost Estimation and Budgeting:
- Provide cost estimates for structural work within interior spaces, considering materials, labor, and time.
- Work within the project’s budget, offering solutions to reduce costs while maintaining the quality and functionality of the structural elements.
Required Skills:
- Structural Engineering Knowledge: In-depth understanding of how interior structural systems integrate with design elements.
- AutoCAD & Design Software: Proficiency in design and modeling software to develop and communicate structural plans.
- Project Management: Ability to lead a team, ensuring all parts of the project come together efficiently and on time.
- Vendor and Contractor Liaison: Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with vendors, contractors, and designers.
