Job Summary
Operating Room Nurses will be responsible for taking care of patients throughout the process of a surgery or medical procedure. They need to ensure the patients are recovering or prepared by providing information on the outcomes or potential outcomes of a procedure. To monitor OT efficiency in terms of utilization and also ensure smooth coordination by arranging surgical trolleys, preparation of PAC, Checking of checklist, assisting surgeons during surgery.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain surgical services in accordance with competency standards. OT scheduling as per the surgeries posted and to maintain the record of the same Complete all physician orders, administer medications, and conduct treatments and tests for patients in a timely manner. Checking the OT inventory, medical and non medical equipment during the shifts and custodian of all these. To maintain OT Rosters Access patient condition before surgery. Monitor patient vital signs & reviews charts for completeness, in accordance with documentation protocols prior to and after the surgical procedure Ensure that the Operating Room is prepared with all necessary supplies, implants, instrumentation, and equipment Keep the operating room sterilized Take handover from ward nurse before surgery & handover post surgery to ICU/Ward. Select and pass instruments, tools and supplies used during the operation to surgeon as required. Develop and implement nursing care plan for assigned patient. Execute proper use, care and handling of surgical equipment to ensure safety of operating staff and patient. Assure that all items on the surgical trays are counted before and after the operation. Administer medications to help sedate the patient prior to a procedure, order supplies or instruments and assure that equipment is properly cleaned and stored. Assist in ordering, storing and maintaining surgical equipment and supplies. Prepare timely and accurate records of patient history and recovery charts. To collect & send the specimen for testing as per situation
Qualifications & Experience
- B.Sc. Nursing / GNM
- Valid State Nursing Council Registration
- 2 - 10 years experience (Women & Children setup preferred)
