Position Summary
We are seeking a results-driven, detail-oriented Purchase Executive to manage and optimize our procurement activities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing raw materials (such as rubber compounds, process oils, chemicals, and fabric/inserts), engineering spares, plant consumables, and office supplies. You will work closely with the Production Planning & Control (PPC) and Stores teams to ensure seamless material availability while optimizing procurement costs.
Key Responsibilities1. Material Procurement & Sourcing
- Source and procure raw materials (rubber compounds, chemicals, packaging materials, etc.), MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) spares, and general utilities.
- Float inquiries to approved vendors, collect quotations, and prepare detailed commercial comparison matrices.
- Negotiate prices, credit terms, and delivery schedules to achieve the best commercial terms without compromising on quality.
2. Order Management & Supply Chain Coordination
- Convert internal purchase requisitions into accurate Purchase Orders (POs) using the company's ERP/Tally software.
- Track and follow up on pending deliveries with vendors to ensure materials arrive on time, preventing shop-floor downtime.
- Coordinate with the logistics and dispatch teams to organize inward transportation efficiently.
3. Vendor Development & Management
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable new suppliers and vendors to minimize single-source risks.
- Maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing vendors and periodically assess their performance based on lead time, quality, and cost.
4. Inventory Control & Documentation
- Align with the PPC and Store In-charge to monitor minimum/maximum inventory thresholds and prevent overstocking or stock-outs.
- Ensure all procurement documentation (Invoices, POs, Goods Receipt Notes - GRN, Test Reports) is systematically maintained for audit purposes.
- Resolve quantity variations or quality defects in incoming materials by coordinating directly with the Quality Assurance (QA) team and the respective vendor.
Candidate Profile & QualificationsEducation & Experience
- Education: Graduate in Commerce (B.Com), Business Administration (BBA), or a Diploma/Degree in Material Management / Supply Chain Management.
- Experience: 2 to 5 years of core procurement experience, ideally within the rubber, chemical, plastics, or heavy manufacturing industry.
Technical & Soft Skills
- Software: Hands-on proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Tally, or industry-specific MSME software) and advanced MS Excel.
- Competencies: Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Communication: Good communication skills in Hindi, Gujarati, and English to liaise effectively with regional vendors and corporate teams.
