Specialist Deputy Manager, Pursuit Strategy (Project Manager)
Do you thrive on running complex processes end-to-end, keeping multiple stakeholders aligned, and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks? The Project Manager plays a critical role in driving competitive pursuits to success by managing the overall pursuit process rather than owning proposal strategy or writing. This role is comparable to a Bid Manager in IT pursuits, focused on planning, coordination, tracking, and execution discipline across the entire pursuit lifecycle.
Working closely with Pursuit Managers, partners, and managing directors, and engagement team members, the role ensures pursuits are well-governed, on schedule, and delivered with quality and consistency. The role is for the Assurance business within Audit & Assurance.
Work you'll do
The Pursuit Project Manager will provide project management expertise to Pursuit teams to increase the overall efficiency of complex proposal efforts.
Plan:
- Understand RFP requirements and project objectives and appropriately assign tasks
- Assess activity effort and create overall project schedules
- Establish clear and realistic objectives to drive pursuit process efficiency
- Demonstrate leadership and teamwork through active participation in large project/pursuit planning meetings
- Develop project management tools and leverage existing Pursuit Management best practices
- Interact with Knowledge Management group to gather research and competitive intelligence
Implement:
- Manage overall process for the client and internal teams according to schedule to ensure timely completion of key activities
- Gather boilerplate responses that may require slight customization
- Manage issue escalation and response
- Balance priorities and provide regular communication and updates to teams
- Manage deliverables, production, and delivery logistics to ensure pursuit response is received on schedule in accordance with client requirements
Quality Control:
- Oversee and administer document revision control; review content for accuracy, adherence to brand and legal compliance and editorial guidelines, and consistency in message and style
- Collaborate with team to achieve on-time completion with a high level of quality; conduct quality control reviews throughout the various drafts of the proposal
The team
The Pursuit Management team is a full-service group of pursuit managers, graphic designers, editors, project managers/coordinators, multimedia specialists, and researchers who directly support client service teams in differentiating Deloitte and winning more business. We deliver support throughout the proposal process, from scoping meetings and written proposal submission through orals preparation and debriefing. This includes developing strategic win themes and written, oral, and visual messaging used consistently in all prospect interactions and pursuit deliverables, as well as facilitating a smooth, rigorous pursuit process.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Ability to work in a matrixed and fast-paced environment and build trusted relationships across a diverse group of stakeholders, across multiple geographies (including the United States, Costa Rica, and India)
- An understanding of how to communicate priorities, mitigate impacts, and manage multiple technical projects with competing deadlines and stakeholders, and where requirements often change.
Location: Hyderabad
Shift Timing: 6:00 PM to 3:00 AM IST (aligned to US stakeholders). The broader team typically operates between 2:00 PM and 11:00 PM IST.
Qualifications
Required:
- Deputy Manager: 9–12 years of post-Master’s degree experience in project management and coordination on complex projects across geographies.
- PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification (optional)
- Master’s degree in Business, Management, or a related field.
- Strong project management skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience using GenAI tools and demonstrated ability to leverage technology for effective proposal development.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Initiative and ability to interact effectively with all levels of management.
- High level of flexibility and adaptability.
